I am new here... and I don't know the full story here, but it seems to me like hes treating you like some would treat someone who cheated on them. I know you said you didn't maybe he doesn't believe it and deep down he still believes you did. I think the counseling is a very good idea. Is he the one that is Bi-polar...I have family with that it seems to go along with paranoia and with depression.
