my counselor said its because of my childhood (of course). she said i have a deep need for security, and to be taken care of, because my childhood was so chaotic. ive always known i needed that security, and ive always known how that need is perceived by society in general. but i decided it doesnt matter how its viewed, it matters that i know its something i need and i should be honest with myself and my partner about it.
i also knew i wanted a man my child could be proud of. my dad had an impressive job (although it didnt pay well) and as a child i got a lot of positive feedback from that. it filtered into my self-esteem. so ive always wanted that for my children.
