Of the first question I do not fully understand what you meant to say.
As for the second I can answer well. I divorced my first wife in 96. I have custody of our child. but we alternate holidays. I have him thanksgiving her the day after. Me Christmas eve her Christmas day. I have him the weekend before easter and she has easter, I have the 4th. It works well.
