One of the characteristics of addiction, in this case alcohol use, is that people lie to cover up the results and consequences of use.
In situations like yours the primary issue that needs to be addressed is the alcohol use. After that is addressed then you and your husband can talk about the other issues.
As you can imagine, you can't reason with people who are under the effects of alcohol or addiction because they no longer reason. This isn't good or bad, it's just the nature of addiction.
Check in your local area for a caring treatment program or twelve step group like Alcoholics Anonymous for him or AlAnon for you. It sounds harsh, but the people who overcome these issues are those who get outside help.
