Do some research on the traditional foods diet. It's not a 'diet' for losing weight, it's a diet in the sense that it's a certain way of eating. I could list websites but I'm sure you know how to google Sally Fallon and Mary Enig have cookbooks out about it, the 'bible' of TF cookbooks is called Nourishing Traditions. The Weston Price foundation is referenced above and is like the TF nazis - I've been to a couple of meetings and they are kinda weird (like, microwaves suck the nutrition out of your food, wtf) Sally Fallon advocates eating more meat than I do - some TFers eat it 3 times a day.
I love this website Traditional Foods in a Nutshell | Nourished Kitchen
It's a very interesting idea, based on what societies have traditionally eaten over the centuries before we became slaves to processed food and disconnected from our food sources. It teaches things most people have never even heard of, like why you should always soak your grains before eating them, how to make your own butter, what kombucha and kefir are, and how to ferment your own sauerkraut. I love it - maybe partly because it appeals to the scientist in me (I have a degree in microbiology and genetics) |
That sounds great...since the introduction of Agri Business, which has pretty much killed off small farmers, ruined the soil and brought about processed foods, thinking like this is a welcome change...another reason to buy local foods.
