Did he know that you wanted to wait to have kids before you got married? If he did, it really hasn't been all that long (2006). I don't think couples should have kids until both of them are ready. It's a big step. Talk it out with him. I can see where you "working long hours" could be difficult in raising children. They require a lot of time and energy. Ask him to forgive you for not being more attentive to his needs and feelings. Assure him your intent was not selfishness but rather preparedness for a future with children. Be humble in your apology and ask him to reconsider.
