what is the difference, just wondering, i'm pretty new here.

Verushkita, I'm not a mod or anything, but it seems to be related to the number of posts you've made. I think the threshold for member is about 80?

You might get some extra benefits by becoming a paid member but you don't pay to have the word "member" under your user ID, the answer to the question is that registered users become members on or after 30 posts probably at the same time they gain access to the private members section.
