i wound up geting him a gift card. we're married but have bee seperated of 1 1/2 yrs. he asked me why a did it and i told him he's still my daughter's father and he's a good father so he deserved something.

My ex's birthday was yesterday (we have been separated/divorced for almost 1 1/2 years now). I didn't get her anything, but I did frame a picture of our kids and they gave it to her. They were excited to have a gift for her and I don't want them to miss out on things like that just because she and I didn't work out. She texted me today thanking me and commented on how excited the kids were to give her the framed picture. I'll do what ever I can to help my kids as they continue to adjust and to make them happy despite any resentment that I may have toward my ex.
