What is to be?
I was traveling on business a couple of weeks ago and began a new poem. This one I may or may not give to her but I thought I’d share it with you all. Thanks.
What is to be?
What is to become of this seedling once born
Elegant rose bush or spindles of thorn
Will you find your love, return as my wife
Or fade like its petals and out of my life
What will we find behind this rusted shut door
Will it be nothing less, will it be something more
Is our history behind us and our future out front
Live the errs of the past or the bliss that we hunt
What is to be found in this dust covered book
Is it happiness or pain, do we dare take a look
Where life takes our story, we just cannot say
I can only have faith in you and God as I pray
What will we find when we wake in the dawn
A cold raw grey day or sun light and song
What will it bring us as the cock crows out
Reconciliation and joy or sorrow and doubt
What will we find in these ribbons and bows
A reason to celebrate or painful sorrows
We’ve opened this box now what will we find
Pandora’s nightmares or sweet piece of mind
What will those clouds bring to us where we stand
A storm of destruction, or relieve a parched land
Our vows are not broken, but in wind they did bend
Will we continue to stress them or learn how to mend
What is the result of a coin flipped in air
Heads brings us felicity, tails brings us despair
We’ll not let our lot in life result from mere chance
Only effort and commitment, not just happenstance
The question is how and when not which and why
As we work to foster our love to rejoin you and I
We ask how will it happen, God when will it be
To recapture the wonder that was once you and me
