Default Absence

Absence

Many may have wondered why I had disappeared for two plus weeks. Here goes….

First my daughter had surgery. It was minor but for an eight year old she didn’t fully understand. My wife and I wanted to make everything special for her. I was only on about half the time I normally would spend since she couldn’t go outside with her friends I got to play with her much more. It was nice to spend the time with her, but I know that she wanted to do more than just play house with daddy no matter how goofy I acted.
The real test though was my wife. She had to have major surgery in her foot. She couldn’t put pressure on it. Since I own my own business I was able to make sure to be at the house about 20 hours a day. Further since she really couldn’t get up to take care of our four kids including two little ones we had them stay with family.

I restructured the living room so that our long couch (9 foot) would be for her use. A computer at one end and a tv/dvd/vcr at the other, also there was a dorm refrigerator there too. With the exception of going to the bathroom she had to get up for very little. Since she is addicted to WOW she spent a good deal on the computer. About 60 hours a week. I stocked the frig with lunch meat, cheese, bread, milk, soda, chips, crackers and cereal. I was also cooking her whatever she wanted once a night (normally steak dinners with 4-5 side dishes) btw I am a really good cook. I had also bought her 4 seasons of a show that we had been watching (about 960 minutes worth of time consumption).

Having another computer I could have just jumped on I decided to get the house ahead without the kids here I was able to repaint (walls, trim, window sills, ceiling, heater covers) 7 0f the 10 rooms in our house. I also cleaned all the rooms and better organized them (since I had to take everything out to paint them. I also washed all the clothes and bedding in the house. I figured by doing all this I would have the house ahead so when she got better she wouldn’t have to do much more or even less when the kids returned. Now to be fair normally I do 90% of the house (cooking, cleaning etc.) Normally she would be working 40 plus hours and going to college full time (where does she have the time for 30-40 hours a week on WOW I don’t know.

Well, all is well now. She has recovered most of the way, and things are about normal again. I had a lot of time with the wife but now that is over I have gotten caught up on the posts that I missed reading.

I'm glad they're both doing well and you're all getting back to your normal routine.
