Default Your Best or Worse Valentine's Day Ever !

Valentines Day is a huge thing down here. Usually everything remotely connected to romance is completely sold out in stores.
From teddy bears to roses to cards.

Wifey likes fine dining so usually on Valentine's night we have dinner at a nice restaurant.

Our best Valentines actually started off really, really bad.
She likes ethnic foods , so I got a friend to book dinner reservations at an exclusive, authentic , Thai foods restaurant.
The reason I asked her ( the friend) to make the reservations was because on Valentine's evening most of these restaurants are literally sold out and this restaurant usually caters for its clientele first , which consists of the " who is who ."

Anyway I was really excited, it's hard for me to keep a secret from her , but I managed. We got dressed , she is excited and kept asking for clues.
Finally we reached ,valet parking etc.
She smiles, impressed as we enter the lobby , the ambiance , music , everything is Thai ,even the waitresses.
Then the nightmare begins. We had to wait in the lobby for almost one hour before our seat was available. Then after ushering us in , the waitress simply disappeared.
The restaurant was filled to capacity and very short staffed.
After waiting for almost an hour I was livid , and hungry. A few other couples appeared to be in our same predicament .
My wife has a lot of patience , not me , but she has the ability to restrain me ...
After about an hour we decided to leave. I knew it was hopeless , and we wouldn't be able to get another restaurant.
Not on Valentines night , but we were both very hungry.

Drove around the city looking for something to eat. We bought two fish burgers from a roadside vendor , sat on a bench and began to eat in silence.
Halfway through the meal she looks at me and says mockingly ;
"...hon, this Thai food is reeealy good ! I love it , thanks for bringing me here..."
she leans over , hugs and plants a big smooch on my cheeks.
" ....happy Valentines dear..."
We both burst out laughing at ourselves and the entire situation.
In between the laughter , we would stop and mock each other saying " happy Valentines dear!"
It was really , really funny, but romantic at the same time .
We were both on the same wavelength , despite the odds being heavily stacked against us.
My attempt to impress her was an epic fail , but we scored with each other , anyway.

Feel free to post yours , looking forward to reading it !

I have never had a special valentines day. My husband seems to think that romantic gestures are not required. A couple of years ago he did buy me a card. I am guessing that was to cover the next 10 years of our marriage..

Perhaps it is time for me to speak up & tell him I want him to be more romantic. After all, I put out all the time so his physical needs are met!

The first Valentine's Day together was the best ....While I wouldn't want this now, when we were 19, it was quite spectacular lol. He'd bought me one of those huge cards, roses, and chocolates, made me a mix-tape, created a sign that he'd printed and put on the bathroom mirror. We had an afternoon/evening out and he said it was to make up for all the Valentine's Days he hadn't been there for. haha smooth talker.

After a couple of years we decided to drop the big gestures for Valentine's and just exchange a card. We're more likely to celebrate through-out the year when we feel, not so much Valentine's Day. We still exchange a card each year though.

Last year my H was working in a remote area so I really wasn't expecting anything. Early after noon there's a knock at the door. I opened the door to a beautiful bouquet of flowers in a vase covered in hearts! I was very surprised. Somehow he managed to use the satellite phone to place the order. Gotta give A for effort because that was a feat.

My favorite Valentine's day so far was the one I spent watching romantic period dramas like Pride and Prejudice while eating Chinese food, peanut M&M's,and later for dinner I treated myself to sushi
I have no idea what SO and I will be doing this year.I am not really that excited about it because the way we are with each other,it's like Valentines every day.I think if it got more sweet/romantic I'd be sick LOL

Lucky you!
Very considerate husband....

My wife would be out of the country on her annual vacation along with my mom and others, on Valentines day.
However ,you just gave me an idea....

The year my son was born was kind of rough - he was born on February 9th, so - that year I didn't even remember it was Valentine's Day, lol.

This year isn't potentially looking a lot better - got my wisdom teeth out on Friday, can barely talk and look like I've been in Fight Club. Not sure that a steak and wine is happening this year either, lol.

My husband planned such a wonderful Valentine’s day a few years ago, that I thought I’d give him a pass forever. We were celebrating our third Valentine’s day in marriage. And the first two were a little small because we were raising a very fussy little boy that never let us out. Anyways, he arranged to get his mother to take care of our three year old for the weekend. My husband also arranged for a surprise night at the same beach where we spent many of our first dates. The beach has a beautiful cliff side where we used to sit. There… he had a table decked out fancier than any restaurant I’d known, our friends single friends were there catering for us. They even wore suits. I had a wonderful dinner under a sunset and later we didn’t go home but spent the weekend at one of the local bed and breakfasts. Save My Marriage

Last year, I wasn't expecting anything from my SO, as it was his day with his son. At that time, I hadn't met his son, and he wasn't getting home until 9 or 10pm so I didn't expect much. But he did buy me a small box of chocolates and a really sweet card. I'm the planner in the relationship, so this year I'm thinking of taking him snowtubing up in the mountains for a weekend.

The most memorable Valentine's Day I had was actually when I first began dating my ex, 7 years ago. We were long distance, so again, wasn't expecting much. But I got the surprise of my life when my best friend called me up, insisted that we meet, and then handed me a box that he sent me. Inside was a bouquet of roses, chocolates, a card, and I think a stuffed animal. He wanted to surprise me, so he found my best friend over MySpace and collaborated the whole thing with her, as he didn't know my address at the time. Then again, this was the same guy, who, one year later, said he didn't give a cr*p about Valentine's Day, so that was the end of that

What a lovely story CB! You two understand the secret to a happy marriage and a blessed life: humor, grace, and gratitude.

My best story is our 25th anniversay, but on Valentine's Day, Hubs always sends flowers to the office. I get to bask in the glory of the women there telling me what a keeper he is!

I'm looking forward to our 25th ! We are just around 18 married .

However, before I met her I always thought Valentines Day was just foolishness for " hopeless romantics."
In any event, I never stayed around long enough to " celebrate " it with anybody.

Then she changed that.

Most guys don't see it, but when women actually get special treatment on that specific day, it makes them feel really special.
a\And when it is done in front of other women,
Man ,they feel like 10 feet tall!
The memory and the feelings they get is what counts.
Men get gifts too but,
Its really a day for women.
