Default I'd like to thank the member who recc'd. Dr Laura Schlessinger - Book

I don't recall which member it was who recommended the book, "The Proper Care & Feeding of Husbands" by Dr. Larua Schlessinger. I've also purchased "The Proper Care & Feeding or Marriage" and will read it next.

Must say "Husbands" is a wonderful book and while I might not agree with Dr's thoughts 100%, I think she's got excellent points and is on target. It's a good book.

I recommend this book to all women and sending a special "Thank You" to whomever it was who suggested it to me. Thank you!

lastinline: I gather she's not open to reading it if you were to purchase it and place it on her nightstand? What about mailing it to her anonomously?

that book is good. i think it can put a lot of women off because it has a submissive, anti-women's movement, tone to it. but i used some of the thigns she said and found it helpful, too.

Blanca, I agree some of the suggestions are submissive by today's standards. Still, good reading.

LoveIsSweet: The book is:

The Proper Care & Feeding of Husbands
by Dr. Laura Schlessinger
ISBN: 0-06-052061-2
Paperback: 13.95 (or try used in eBay or Amazon/dot/com)

Dr Schlessinger has written many other books simillar to this one for "marriage", "kids", "relationships", etc.

To deny any truths because they don't fit in with a "movement" is silly. I find anyone who is like that to be a militant, rather than a thinking, feeling person.

Some of the info in the book are right on. Some not so much. But overall, I recommend the book as well.

Honestly, I wish she hadn't spent so much time setting herself up as opposing militant feminists because it takes away from the underlying message and makes it too much about her.

It may have been me! I recommended it on a couple of threads. I received the books as an engagement gift! Haha, thanks mom...but it was good to read before getting married to make sure I do treat him properly and "feed his ego" in a sense.

She might come off as a little harsh, but honestly...some people need that as an eye opener and I think a lot of her points are correct about how we as women expect romance from our men but we don't necessarily give it to them and some guys like to be romanced!
