Aspartame was not developed as a rat or ant poison. It is chemically made with nearly all made in China or India but mostly China.

Re: Anti depressants

While I am all about natural methods of dealing with health issues, I doubt it will help much in my case. I eat incredibly healthy. Never use artificial sweeteners, drink pop, smoke, or drink alcohol often. I also take supplements and a good probiotic. I do ballet weekly.
@giddiot, thank you for sharing your experience with specific meds.

Everyone else who has taken time to respond, I really appreciate it. It is very reassuring.

Mental health issues do run in my family. I have always had some level of anxiety which I a managed on my own (though not well). I am hopeful that this will clear my mind of the cloud that is on my head and help me to be rational rather than the confused mess I feel like right now.

Re: Anti depressants

The doctor prescribed Citalopram and I took my first one last night.
He said it will take weeks before I feel a difference, but I swear, today I feel more cheerful. I find the children's antics funny, not irritating. I want to snuggle them. My head feels more clear. I am hopeful!

Anti depressants

Lol it does take a couple of weeks for it to absorb in your body. Probably a placebo affect but hey....whatever works!

That's great news, PL. Fingers crossed this is the beginning of a new lease on life for you.

FWIW, to give my perspective and add some black humour to the situation: my WW finally got a prescription for a small dose of Zoloft (this is over 14 years ago - she's since stopped it) and during the time she was on it I don't think it affected her sex drive... at least, not with one OM.

Re: Anti depressants

Citalopram is a good, honest medication to try first for many people with relatively low side effect profile and tolerated by most.

It is most likely others who will notice the change first and not you. I say 3-6 weeks for full effect.

You are in for the hardest battle you will ever face. I am so sorry that you have to endure living with a depressed spouse...... The meds turns them into Zombie's. Why me.

Might as well take a placebo then.

Now you know why all drug trials have controls and why people feel better after acupuncture and faith healing and taking homeopathic medications.

Next time you're out and about pick up a dousing rod or two, you never know when you might need to find water.

While it can take several weeks for the meds to kick in completely, some of them can take effect at some level immediately. Generally they have to build up in your system.

So don't let those who say that it's placebo effect get you down. There will always be negative people.

It's been a couple of weeks now. I wonder how you are doing.
