I read something a couple of days ago about "40 for 40" or something like that.....giving a bag of something you don't need anymore to charity every day for 40 days. I thought that was a good idea, too.....maybe next year. I'll start saving my stuff .
I hope the date goes well!

Great progress! I really like the charity idea.

I gave up wine & g&t's (the only things I occasionally drink), cut as much processed sugar as I'm aware of, do 2x meals a day, no carbs after 4pm, and as an added test, gave up caffeine, which has turned me into a zombie with morning headaches.

But, I feel good. I took all the candy at home (mostly hard candy) and brought it to a client and left it in the kitchen.

It's amazing to think how much sugar we really do consume.

Keep it up, ST'R!

Wow, no caffeine! I'm not sure I could do that! I only have 2 cups in the morning and don't drink soda, but I really need that lol!

Glad you are hanging in there. I agree with @ConanHub. Be compassionate with yourself and know you will achieve your goals.

I haven't given up anything. I have only abstained from red meat on Ash Wednesday and this past Friday. I fasted and only had one full meal on Ash Wednesday.

I rarely eat candy of any kind. I think it's been more than a year since I had a KitKat. I haven't had any alcohol since 2013, I think. Maybe '14? I can't remember. I don't do drugs except what is prescribed by my doctor to keep me healthy.

I guess my weakness would be carbs in the food area. It's a little tough for me to give those up, because I don't really have the income to purchase all the good foods I'd like to eat. And, carbs are a way I reward myself. It would be better, if I had less. I'll have to think about that.

See what you started? It's a good thing. Isn't it?

Re: I'm trying to convince myself to give up alcohol for Lent

Carbs are a big weakness of mine as well. I love crusty, hearty bread. I really have to give pause for thought when it comes to sandwiches, buns, dinner rolls, etc. Even though I love bread, I consistently carbo crash after eating it.

I used to eat a lot more pasta too, but in the last 1.5 years I've had a pasta dish maybe 3 times. And coming from a 50% Mediterranean bloodline, that's almost a sacrilege.

Mine should be both coffee and soda. That would be a tough one.
