Re: Who will win?

Not having any special crystal ball, and not being prone to make predictions that come served with a plate of warm crow (as some of you will soon discover), I predict the winner will be the one with the most votes. And I stand by that prediction, all stupendously idiotic protestations of vote rigging to the contrary.

Cool Re: Who will win?

HRC will marginally win in the popular vote and should easily eclipse 300+ electoral votes in the electoral college, as Trump has no viable avenue to reach the 270 mark!

And yes! Both candidates will have even more October/November surprises richly in store for them!

Notwithstanding, Trump will never concede his election defeat but will offer up some rather vociferous "sour grapes speech" extolling that the electoral college is "rigged" and needs to be constitutionally abolished and to further announce the immediate formation of his brand new news network!

Good luck with all of that, Donald!

That was hilarious. The lack of any self-awareness among the faithful is always good for a laugh.

"Trump is unfit to lead, so I'm voting for Hillary."

So you imply that Hillary is fit to lead. When she is demonstrably not. What great thing has she accomplished? What has she touched while in power that did not end in disaster or scandal?

The conflating of political experience as coaching experience is quite alarming I think. The idea that only the Experts are fit to lead completely gives up on republicanism, and rather says that you aren't fit to govern yourselves, but that the Technocrats are your rightful masters. People making such arguments are either completely unaware of the arguments they make, or they absolutely hate the idea of a republic and self-rule.

Here's the real breakdown folks:

Trump is a blowhard who is appealing to the masses. He offers the people what they want when they are asked, which is called Populism. (Personally, I'm a fan of republicanism (little r) so I have serious reservations with that, because it smacks of the tyranny of the majority. Most people want something done about illegal immigrants. Most people want something done about trade. Most people want something done about the stagnation of wages and destruction of opportunity for the blue-collar sector. Most people want to stop invading every little upstart in North Africa and the Middle East. So he promises to do what they ask. It's closer to democracy than technocracy though.

Clinton is a corrupt kleptocrat and a power-hungry demagogue. She and her friends have sold US interests (including the attempted sale of military secrets to the Chinese) because she has no care for the people, and views them with contempt. She is demonstrably pro-intervention in the Middle East and North Africa, and is posturing for some sort of renewed cold (possibly hot?) war with the Russian Federation. Kleptocracy is a pure tyranny, and is not in the best interests of anyone but those who hold the power at the top.

Johnson is a moron who has no understanding of just about any issue. He is a walking billboard advertisement for why we should ban drugs (and I'm in favor of legalizing them ). He can't hold coherent thoughts, however, for those regressive "progressives" out there, he does offer something you can get behind: Legalize Drugs, Cap and Trade carbon taxes and open borders. He will destroy the country demographically speaking, and many economic sectors will crumble if he has his way, but he's not likely to entangle us in Syria or abroad.

Stein is a communist. Look up the term. She's definitely the most honest of the politicians running, and probably the least crazy (and I'm a free-market liberal). She has a solid understanding of international geo-politics. She is a disaster in many ways, but she is certainly competent. If you're a regressive "progressive" this is your candidate. She's smart. She holds all of the values you claim to hold. She's not obviously corrupt.

Re: Who will win?

I'm pulling for Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, future Queen of the United Empire of America.

She's not included in the polls, so we don't know how she's doing.

I'm pulling for the election to be over soon. Also, Hillary. And Yes, she's WAY more qualified to run the country.

Re: Who will win?

I think Hillary still has an edge, but it will be close. Either way, it won't have any significant effect on my life. Things will be a little better or a little worse, but probably not change greatly. I won't like the increase in bigotry and discrimination that is likely to occur if Trump wins, and international relations may be damaged. As a modestly well off old white guy, I won't personally be impacted (aside from my blood pressure!) by more bias and discrimination, but they would still be highly offensive. My two biggest concerns are action on climate from a global perspective, and health care at the state level. If either or both of those negatively affect our lives, we can afford to move to a different state - or even to another country (dual citizenship). I doubt that will be necessary. Things will surely change again in a few years, so I'll just continue on with my life regardless of who wins.

2 thoughts on this post.

1) I think this is a perfect demonstration of what is wrong with the population, and why we have found ourselves where we are. You honestly think the POTUS is supposed to run the country. How sad. We've given up on self-governance and rather find that a large portion of the population desires Technocratic rule of an Oligarchy.

2) How is she more qualified for the position? What about her is better? All we see are assertions, over and over. I think an honest look at this, and you'll see that Trump is the better choice of the two. Not a good choice mind you. But the better. Under no circumstances would we give anyone else access to Classified information after doing what Clinton has now been proven to have done. Certainly not the access to such information that being POTUS would grant.

Here's a thought experiment for the pro-Hillary folks out there. When asked if she whiped her server of information, she said "You mean with a cloth?" and "I don't know how how it works digitally at all."

Now, do you believe her when she says this? Because if so, you are stating that a person who has no understanding of what the term "wiping" an electronic device means should be in charge of the highest station in government, and is more competent than a man who does, or you are stating that she is lying to people because she committed a series of felonies, and that a felon should be POTUS rather than a non-felon.

Which is it?

You know, because of all the ridiculous fear mongering over "Racism!" and "Bigotry!" revolving around Trump (When the KKK is giving money to Hillary btw) I'm actually hoping that happens. If you're going to be called racist and bigot solely because you're on the other Team, hell, you might as well live up to it. I don't think it will happen, because Trump is demonstrably not that kind of guy. But it would be quite fitting.

Re: Who will win?

@Kivlor - you mention race. I did not, and mostly I am thinking about other kinds of bigotry. Race is already an issue, but one that may not change much with this election.

Re: Who will win?

Let us not forget Al Gore in 2000. As recently as this calendar year on this very forum I've read people saying GWB stole that election. The sour grapes are still there from 16 years ago with the Dems. The hypocrisy would be breathtaking if it weren't SOP for them.
