Was this an anti-woman anti-foreigner vote?

No. Not at all. It was an anti-Hillary Clinton vote.

A vote against the Clinton Foundation a vote against the Billary construct and all the bad stuff it has done down through the years.

To some it was an anti Muslim anti Mexican vote. To others it was a police action on the uterus. But to most, it was an I hate Hilary more vote.

By no means, can we extrapolate that Trump's platform was voted in. Hilary was voted out.

Also perhaps they didn't want a blindingly obviously partisan president?

As in "How dare Donald Trump say something rude about women? He is a disgrace!"

As against:-

"Oh, Bill is being threatened by a woman who alleges he raped her? Don't worry! I will sort out the ****ing little *****!"

Hillary supports women? No. Not really.

I don't think it had anything to do with abortion. There's no indication that Trump wants to ban abortion. He also doesn't have any problem with legal immigrants, just the illegal ones and immigrants from Muslim countries who have not been properly vetted.

This was not a win for Trump. It was a loss for Hillary.

My point being that he won because people hated Hillary more.

Partly true, but there are actually people who think he's pretty good... compared to most politicians, anyway.

Time will tell if he pulls off what he says he will. I hope so.

Re: Was this an anti-woman anti-foreigner vote?

I don't think people are anti-woman; they are just anti-Hillary. Had someone like Condi Rice ran on the Dem ticket against Trump, she would have won. I would have voted for her. The honor of being the first woman president will go to someone else with less baggage.

Now Matt, I realize you're not in the USA so maybe that accounts for your rather glaring crater size whole in your awareness of Trumps actual comments, words coming out of his mouth, while campaigning, while being filmed, while being interviewed that go far beyond "rude." In fact, if I said about your wife the things that Trump has said about women, I'd be banned permanently.

Blindingly partisan? Sure if blindingly partisan doesn't mean you take the entire party platform, multiply it by 10, and add some hyperbole. The only thing not alarmingly partisan about Trump is the fact that he's never held public office.

So you missed the interview in which he said he thought not only should abortion be outlawed but women who seek abortions should be punished?

Yes, I missed it, but you know what? It will take a lot more than one guy's opinion to overturn established law that had already been ruled constitutional by the SCOTUS.

Oh, I know what Trump said.

And I know what Bill did.

And that is where I have the problem with Hillary and her partisan and partial morality.

Re: Was this an anti-woman anti-foreigner vote?

It was an anti-career politician anti-status quo vote. That's why Trump won the Republican primary. That's why he won the general election.

This is a Brexit situation. The people who voted him in are going to be hurt the most if he does what he said would.

The other interesting thing is that Trump was a pro-choice, pro-universal healthcare, middle of the road Democrat for most of his life. That's his natural position.
