Whether Trump entirely shares Bannon's views is less clear, but he's happy to manipulate the people who do to maintain their support.
Just ran across this, which reminded me of your post, Nora:

"It is important to note the promotion of Stephen Brannon as a senior advisor in the Trump cabinet, this move insures that the alt-right media is directly plugged into the highest level of White House proceedings. The significance of this is that Brannon has now become a de facto Minister of Information for the Trump administration, specifically chosen to disseminate spin to the alt-right media, keeping his proto-Fascist base properly satiated."

Re: Bannon

Honestly, I am not paying too much attention to the individuals being appointed right now. Instead. I rather wait until January when the new administration is in place. When it counts, let's see what everyone brings to the table. A lot of promises were made by the Trump campaign, can they follow through? Will they be able to work well with Congress (it should be easier given the house and senate are republican but doesn't guarantee things are just going to fly through without dissension, and there are clearly republicans who are not on board with the Trump administration as of now). What role will the democrats play (if you believe the reports, supposedly Soros and his goons which include Pelosi, Warren, etc... have a 3 day meeting in NYC trying to figure out how they can throw as many roadblocks as possible at the Trump admin.). We have only a few months to go, and IMO actions speak louder than words.

Re: Bannon

I'm actually curious on the evidence of the allegations that Bannon is a white supremacist. All I see on that "Briedfart" news site or something is just random non-supremist topics.

After a recent video that just enlightened me on how the media had twisted Trump's speeches, I'm questioning the ability of the media to report fairly on the matter.

I would be very disappointed if not just Trump but Bannon also turns out to be just victims of the media. That would pin the responsibility of all the recent hate crimes on both ideological sides on - the media, instead of our favorite poster child. Trump isn't as entertaining when he's not racist

Re: Bannon

I don't see how the Clintons and Obama even come up in this thread. The question was about a Trump appointee.

I'm not a particular fan of any party.....I voted for Bill but did not vote for Obama.

I did not support Trump but am not unhappy Hillary lost, so it's not like I'm losing sleep over it.

I just don't get how a Trump appt has anything to do with anyone except Trump and said appointee.

As norajane said.....is Trump not allowed to be subject to any scrutiny whatsoever because.......CLINTON?

Seems to me that bringing the Clintons or Obama into this is a thread jack unless they have something to do with Bannon's appt.

Do you REALLY think it's fair to scrutinize someone who hasn't even started the freaking job?

And if I had a nickel for every time I heard "It's Bush's fault" in the last eight years....

Re: Bannon

Even Glenn Beck is concerned about Bannon:

Glenn Beck: The alt-right is truly terrifying - CNNPolitics.com

"Beck believes the majority of Trump voters are not part of the alt-right movement, but says "they are being influenced without knowing it."

But he has started the job. That is what these appointments are all about...that IS what his job is right now. All his inauguration is, is just expanding his job duties from what they are right now.

He HAS started the job. The job of President doesn't start on Jan 21. It started already. For example, he is already receiving the Presidential Daily Brief produced and delivered daily by the CIA and others in our national security agencies, and Pence starts getting his today. He is already meeting with foreign leaders and discussing policy (Putin, for example), his transition team is already supposed to be meeting with the Dept. of Energy (nuclear codes), among many, many others, to start the transition from Obama's people to Trump's people (though Trump's transition team has been no-showing for those transition meetings since they don't have a transition team ready).

I hear you, and if Bannon was like, regular Joe at work, I'd be all for, give this guy a break until we see him walking around in Confederate Flag undies. But the fact that this is even a question (let alone the fact that he certainly has ties) for a position as high as he has in the United States government should make most people say..."Um, not a good idea".

Here is the problem. EVERYONE who voted for Trump is a racist in your view, so anyone he appoints must be too. The left is making this non-issue into a problem.

Re: Bannon

Is this really any different than Obama appointing Van Jones?

Appalling to those from the other side, and meh from the same side?

Exactly, he hasn't started the job, no matter how many briefings/meetings he has had. Obama is still president.

Apparently it's a thread jack when the thread doesn't go the way OP and others expected/wanted.

Even if I don't get likes for it, I'm still going to say it.

I swear, you just like to troll me. I have never said EVERYONE who voted for Trump is a racist. Go through my posts and find that. It's absurd and you try to use it against me to justify your opinion. If that lets you sleep at night, goferit.

However, I DID say that those who voted for Trump are ok with having a racist running our country and pretty much the world. There is something significantly different there, well, at least in my world...maybe not yours.
