REPORT: Trump Will Not Pursue Clinton Investigations; She?s ?Been Through Enough? | Mediaite

This comes after he says he isn't really going to repeal the ACA. He has mentioned he isn't really going to build the wall like he planned. Next he won't drain the swamp.

I don't find specific joy in this. He sold a bill of goods to people who really thought that they wanted it. I know he hasn't even started yet, but, you know...

" “I don’t wanna hurt them. They’re good people,” he continued of the Clintons."

Re: Hoodwinked

Going further into the Clinton investigations is not his path... that would be the FBI and AG's path.

I would be happy to just see the Clinton political machine fade into the sunset... give the dems rebirth to vet somebody worthy if they can...

Re: Hoodwinked

This is an interesting situation. If he has truly decided not to go after the Clintons and their foundation then Obama doesn't need to issue a pardon which means that Trump's campaign promise is still viable. It could anger some people.

When it seemed likely that he would go after HRC the feeling was that Obama would issue a pardon which would make the promise moot. Then the anger would be directed at Obama not Trump.

Of course Comey recommended no prosecution anyway but what does the FBI know about criminal cases?

Re: Hoodwinked

It isn't clear his FBI and DOJ will cease existing investigations. It appears he may let the email server case stay asleep, but that doesn't mean the many other investigations would be stopped.

If he does call a halt to all investigations it would be a terrible start for him. The allegations against Hillary for corruption via the family foundation are serious, and they have nothing to do with this election. Meaning that an investigation is not political retribution against her. We do want to be sure we don't become a banana republic where the succeeding administration jails the predecessors just because of ideology. The Clintons have apparently engaged in massive pay-to-play corruption while Hillary was SecState. That is a serious crime which may have seriously harmed the USA already. It needs to be investigated and, if guilty, Hillary needs to face the full punishment.

The ruling elite are not above the law. If Trump issues the Clintons a free pass it will completely undermine his moral authority.

Most people who oppose ACA do see some good stuff in there. I'll wait to see what he does, but I am optimistic he will repeal the really offensive parts of it and get something much better in place.

The wall. Not too many people expected a literal wall the entire length of the southern border. It really is accurate what someone wrote a few months ago, Trump supporters take him seriously but not literally, whereas the left takes him literally but not seriously. His supporters expect physical barriers, tech barriers, law enforcement, and human patrols to be enacted which greatly improve the security of the borders.

Once again as always different rules for the ruling class.

If it was me I would have appointed a special prosecutor who has an impeccable record, possibly someone who has prosecuted a Repub in the past and I would have then washed my hands of the matter, telling the public I recuse myself because of the election.

too early to tell what the Trump really will do. I wonder if this announcement is to appease BO, who is currently running around the world trying to derail the president elect, prior to him taking office?

I haven't seen the exact words other than what was quoted in the first post here. I have not seen something definitive that he will not keep current investigations open. MSNBC is a less than reputable source of unbiased news. There is an obvious attempt already underway by the left and the mainstream media to undermine Trump by mischaracterizing the transition process and his position on issues.

Trump is a savvy man, and I could see him having a leak about not investigating further so as to keep Obama from pardoning the Clintons. Btw, both Clintons and many of their associates are under investigation.

He won't pursue her because that's not his job. The doj will do it after he purges the obstructionists.

This pisses me off, I was really hoping to see Hillary in jail. If doesn't repeal the ACA and at least demand tighter immigration rules I'm going to start suspecting foul play.

I hope.

Better, his AG is going to prosecute on some level. Does not want to give B.O. a reason to pardon the Clintons....all three of them.

Give all these crooks false hope.

Trump is being pressured not to set a precedence [not to] go after the prior president and his minions.

This furthers the notion that the law applies to most people but not to the rich and powerful.

Re: Hoodwinked

Can a person be pardoned of crimes that they have not been charged with?

Like a blanket pardon... "I absolve you of all your sins (crimes)"?

You can be pardoned before being charged. I think it would have to refer to a specific event, like "pardoned of all charges related to the private email server". You can also be partially pardoned. Like for the sentence but not for the conviction.

George Bush pardoned **** Cheney's senior advisor, Scooter Libby, after he was sentenced to 2.5 years for obstruction of justice. He only pardoned the sentence and let the conviction stand if memory serves.

I'm not sure that any president would want to pardon anyone for anything they ever did.

Unless he has seen her real medical report and thought: "How in the world did she ever think she could cope with being the president? I really don't think I can have someone so sick prosecuted."

Truthfully, the country has had enough. Let's not distract what needs to get done with headline after headline about Hillary and emails. However, the Clinton Foundation needs to be addressed.

The ACA, while a bad mess, is a program that has been instituted. It needs fixing. Repealing and starting fresh probably is not the greatest idea. Keep kids on parents policies until 26 and pre-existing condition covered should be kept. IMO, everyone should pay something into the system. Even if it is a meager $1.00/month. Currently there are too many getting carried by too few.

The wall, certainly the border will be secured by wall, fence and patrolled. All three in conjunction.
