Keystone XL a go again?

Great we can all benefit from those Canadian tar sands being piped down to Houston. How? I dont know.

Just hope the a$$hole foreign company actually does what they say and makes it "leakproof". The Nebraska Sandhills that sit on top of the Ogallala aquifer aren't really the area I would like to see an oil spill.

They said the Titanic was unsinkable.

Nothing is ever leakproof. The pipelines that are currently in place have leaks all the time. Companies like them because they are a cheap way to move oil, but they cause a lot of problems.

Not so sure we need this oil so bad by pipeline that we need to risk a major aquifer. It just sounds like a big business deal that going to make someone a fortune.

Oh I know nothing is ever leakproof. I just have to hope any problems are as small as possible as I know how delicate an ecosystem the sandhills are. To top it off that area that is made of very permeable sand sits over one of the largest aquifers in the world. An aquifer that provides irrigation water that helps feed billions and provides drinking water for millions.

Its an area of my state that VERY few inhabit. But it is beautiful and delicate. A fact that made my normally very Red state vote against the pipeline again and again.

I hope so.... it's about damn time. If it sprouts a leak, fix it. The end.

1. Millions of jobs?
2. I dont think most would think of western Nebraska farmers and mostly ranchers as nutjob liberals. But ok.

It will (if it actually happens) be built by many many many Sub-Contractors. The majority of which will be American Companies...mostly small with less than 75 or so employees.

Re: Keystone XL a go again?

Please do not call them TAR sands. They are oil sands or, more correctly, bituminous sands. There is no TAR involved and I hear people call them that all the time and since they're in my back yard, it bugs me.

We will see whether Trump thinking he can resurrect this even makes a difference. Nanny Notley, our premier, has made it harder and harder for companies here to bother investing more money in oilsands development with her carbon taxes and alternate energy programs.

How many jobs will be destroyed when we export a lot of our oil causing large energy price hikes in this country?

Didn't we learn this lesson in 2007?
