Re: If ACA is repealed

Right Arb. I think the federal government (Section 708 of the Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act) had to intervene when folks were buying cheaper pharmaceuticals from Canada.

If you don't embody controversy, what you say will become just another part of the media driven culture of stifling thought and debate about issues.

It just doesn't seem (to me) there is much of an outcry or outrage over the 1% having the means "to avoid"...I am not up on how they do this.. other than hearing people talk of off shore accounts, tax loopholes, I wouldn't begin to understand what they get away with or fathom the amount of $$ at their disposal compounding itself so they can live like Kings & Queens, while people in my neck of the woods are working 50+ hrs a week many times & still struggle to get by.....

Had friends over today...they couldn't afford health insurance after a lay off .. one of their cars was wrecked, 3 of them sharing 1 car.. both parents working full time, then had to turn around & pay some penalty for over $1,000 (glad Trump is removing this anyway)... my friend got a different job offering benefits for the whole family.. they are so thankful...

Look.. I hardly have the answers.. I am slowly learning.. though the more I learn.. the more hopeless it seems to me... I worry terribly for our children, what they face in coming years... a mountain before them.. if they aren't the smartest, know the right people to get the GOOD PAYING jobs.. they will struggle probably even more than we ever have - with degrees yet... just seems very bleak to me...

The bottom line is.. people worship the rich... anything they want.. they get.. they buy everyone off.. they hold all the power... it will take a revolution & BLOOD to change these things..

I think we need to heed the warnings from these men -in the 1%....

As we saw in the Bolshevik Revolution, the odds are that a revolution would merely change who is wealthy.

Gates and Buffett, for all they do, don't pay additional taxes, which they could. Think on why none of them do, when they have the option. And yet they support "higher taxes" on the wealthy...

It is my assertion that they do this for alternative reasons. Particularly, you will see that the people really hit by such taxes when implemented are those who are aspiring to such wealth... preventing them from reaching it. They never hurt the top, they act as a form of protection and insulation, to keep other people out.

Do you hear the people sing / Lost in the valley of the night?
It is the music of a people / Who are climbing to the light.
For the wretched of the earth / There is a flame that never dies.
Even the darkest night will end / And the sun will rise...

You keep saying to me "Think on why none of them do".. can't you see that we all should be piZZed off by this.. I completely "get it" that the upper middle class/ the middle class are taking the biggest blow by them with all their tax loopholes and crap...so why do most of you consistently blame the struggling poor while letting these FAT insulated filthy rich off the hook? Does anyone need 50 million a year...are they worth that much? and what does that say about the working poor.. we're worth THAT little.

I am not really understanding if you agree with me or not , to be honest.. many of us just want to make a living, ya know.. and still have some faith that this country cares about all it's people...

We have a niece who just got her Veterinarian licence..I think she's 28 yrs old now... has literally half a million in loans... she was explaining on Christmas how she will have to work for lower pay for 10 yrs to get "Loan forgiveness" to pay these off.. by then she will be almost 40 yrs old.. so that's her plan, as I understand...

I certainly don't envy her situation.. but she's doing something she loves.. so that's wonderful....hopefully it all works out in the end for most of us....

Re: If ACA is repealed

Vet medicine is fun tho. We were three days into DD1's new college town when kitty Mies decided to get sick. Her school has a renowned veterinary medicine school that's quite affordable... The facilities and care were Mayo Clinic level at least. Three faculty members and a resident huddled over Mies, "ummm, he's a cat". Hilarious.

But you're right, it doesn't pay off. They'll be lucky to break six figures down the road.
