It is rather "Get off my Lawn, you crazy kids!" politics. But then, the voting population is getting older.

Re: Trump needs to lay off the states on the pot issue

First, I want to say I feel all warm and fuzzy inside seeing conservatives and liberals come together in agreement. :-)

Second - @tech-novelist - what do you think is up with this? Why do you think Trump would bother over this issue? I've read he doesn't drink, so maybe he sees intoxicants of any kind as destructive, but meddling with what states do in regards to marijuana seems out of character for him to me. Not that I have a clear read on him. Of course it could just be a random thought that popped into his head while he was talking - like when he mentioned blowing that Russian ship out of the water during his press conference. LOL.

It is a bizarre thing to have something legal according to some states, but not the Federal government.

Do not light my fuse.

Drugs suck.

Drugs suck the life out of people.

I love life. I want others to have a life.

A life lived with clear eyes, a clear mind.

I AM old. Drugs [alcohol] killed off most of my Kin. Drugs have destroyed friend's children and grandchilden. Not mine.

I refuse to acknowledge that such a foggy path [as this] warrants one foot of travel by any blessed Sentient Being.

Life is a Gift that nothing could surpass. What a waste to live it in a groggy stupor.

No one is proposing to force you to use drugs.

Do you know the toll that drug prohibition has taken on society, mainly the poor?

Most people who know about that aren't in favor of continuing it.

I don't pretend to understand the tactics of the master troll who is currently President, although they seem to be working well so far.

This may turn out to be another distraction for the press to chase after.

I think it will turn out that he is receptive to the states rights issue, as well as a way to pick up some anti-drug-war types on the left and among libertarians, even though he isn't personally interested in using drugs.

One of the biggest tragedies going on in this country is the number of citizens locked up for marijuana use or possession.

I get the feeling that Trump doesn't care one way or the other. Jeff Sessions will be the bigger speedbump.

Re: Trump needs to lay off the states on the pot issue

It is an interesting filter DC uses to support or deny States rights...

I know more people on prescription pharmaceuticals that take away their woes than those who imbibe in recreational sampling of current passed state laws.

A few become rather indignant in conversations when comparisons are made between the two as "such impurities will never pass my lips" but their prescribed remedial is ok because it is doctor sanctioned, and with the caveat of a co-pay.

Since the discoveries of fermentation and plant capabilities for soothing pains, stress, and lamentations, carbon-based life forms have partaken in their use.

Let the states decide... if we can figure out transgender bathrooms, we can figure this out too.

I don't even drink and I would prefer if no one used drugs, but I see the negative effects of drug laws as far outweighing the negative effects of drug use.

Re: Trump needs to lay off the states on the pot issue

Alcohol is the most dangerous and destructive drug in existence. Period. Namely because it is legal, cheap, and abundant. More violent crime has been perpetrated by drunk assailants than any amount of crime fueled by meth, coke or PCP.

The illegalization of cannabis is one of the biggest scams ever perpetrated on the American people by the U.S. government.

You are rubbing a dirty dollar against a moral foundation. Those "most people" are fools. The general population does not even know who their Congressman is. They do not know what country we "rebelled" against to gain our "Independence". Who was John Adams?

Aside: "Who was John Galt?"

The Waywards: "Who was Hester Prynne".

How can you give credence to the opinions of "The Great Unwashed"? Some of these folks have street knowledge, but not of the useful kind. They be, Cynics and Conspiracy Mongers. "Other Folk" bashers, dashers and critics. No mirror is in their house. If they know not themselves, how then, others?

You are willing to roll over, to give up on the problem. I will not acquiesce.

I am at your mercy.....bind me to the Mast and scourge my flesh. Just do so, logically.

A funny story about my ancestry. As mentioned, most of my family on both sides were drunks.

My Maternal Grandparents were members of the Temperance Union. Marching, sign toting, Speak Easy busters. All their children became drunks.

It is the way of the flesh. Each alternating generation swings in the opposite direction as did their parents.

I did this....alternate thing. My parents were drunks, my brothers and sisters "were" drunks. They followed along the wet path.

I swung hard in the opposite direction. My high came from "Run, Bike, Swim". Diving out of perfectly good aircraft.

This....This is the nub of the stick that pokes me in the eye when the light of day energizes my optic nerve....SunCMars.... The Allegory of the Cave--> On this, I did a '180' and stepped out.
