In some parts of Africa the level of rapes going on are huge. These make sense. Even if only some of the women use them, it might save a lot of grief for a lot of women and young girls.

On a different forum where someone brought this up a lot of mention was made about how this could be detrimental, as men who are aware of a woman wearing this thing will cause her terrible harm by forcefully removing it from her... Not too mention a man who has been hit by a rape axe will be a very very very angry man in deed...
Im worried Rape Axe will cause more harm than good, but considering the weapon of choice over there is a machete it probably cant get much woarse. A poorly thought out product, but the developers hearts may have been in the right place.

A lot of the rapes in Africa these days are also in the refugee camps. Women and girls are left with no male family members as protection. There is also a lot of fighting going on in AFrica now. Those figthing often think that raping the women in places they over run is their right.
And yes it might lead to some violence. But the rapes are already violent. It's not unusual in the wars and camps that the women are killed or badly disfigured after the rape.
Also keep in mind in that in Africa many women have been 'altered'. They are often sewn shut when their men are not around. So a rapist has to cut her open to rape her... Soooo it's a pretty bad thing to start with.
I don't think it's a poorly thought out product at all. First off I think that the rapist will be hurting far too badly to hurt their victim. Getting that thing off of their private parts is going to be the biggest issue to them.
I still feel that the product isnt going to offer the protection the marketers would lead you to believe, but at least now the rapists arent walking away unscathed...

I'd be worried about the potential for misuse. A girl can wear these, seduce a guy, and then cry rape and ruin his life.
I guess guys in areas where these things are being used will need to be more careful checking the girl/woman out before just jumping into something with her.
Very similar to back in the old country how we'd handle car thieves. Leave a bottle of cyanide laced liquor in the glovebox. Never have to walk more than a mile to retrieve your car albeit it would be a little banged up.

In Canada they passed a law which basically states that if a drunk girl meets a guy in the club, she is allowed to cry rape the following morning if she wants to, after the fact.
Onus is completely on the man now to prove it was consensual.
