I don't understand why a large number of Americans are horrified with gay marriage.
It has been legal in Canada since 2005. Even Canadians who do not agree with homosexual marriage, are at least very accustomed to it.
Love is a rare gift, so it doesn't matter if the couple is straight or gay IMO
I realize that not everybody feels the same way. I am very interested in hearing what scares many Americans about two men or two women becoming a married couple.
It's not "the Christians" lollll Sure, many Christians, like my mom, think gayness is wrong all together. Don't get started about gay marriage with her. haha.
I don't know what it is, exactly.
I do think it's funny that the people whom I know who are against gay marriage say that gay marriage will ruin the sanctity of marriage.
And they've all been divorced at least once. My mother--- divorced 3 times. but somehow, gay marriage will take away the seriousness of marriage.
O_o
Yea. Ok.
I'm all for it. I don't look at bodies as defining us as individuals, but our souls, which I believe are older than time. Male, female...doesn't matter to me.
Yeah I personally don't feel that I am anyone to stand in the way of anyone else's happiness, it isn't hurting anyone. I would rather our government train their focus on making this country a safer place for our kids to grow up in, and let people make decisions like that for their own lives for themselves...
I'm a Catholic conservative. With that being said I have no problem with gay marriage. Let them have at it. I think the problem some of my friends have with it is the wording....marriage. That has to be it because they have no problem with a civil union.

This is how I felt... Call it something else, give them the same rights as a married couple, call it done.
Now, maybe I'm old and jaded about marriage, since I'm no longer in one. Knock yourself out, why should they be any happier than the rest of us?

GO CANADA!!
There is still a large group of people in this country that are opposed to gay marriage. But since we have that fancy law, it is no longer PC to be openly anti-gay.
I wonder if gays divorce at the same rate as heteros?
It's an ancient taboo, perhaps springing from the days when we needed to populate the world due to the many illnesses that existed back then.
I have a co-worker whose 16 year old daughter "thought" she was gay at 15. She was in a rebellious stage, and wanted to anger her mother. She has now decided that she is straight. People may fear that normalizing homosexuality will result in more young people trying that lifestyle.
I am repulsed by the extreme ones that participate in parades around in San Francisco--nipple rings, outrageous costumes, flaunting their weirdness.
I also feel that children need a mother and a father for normal development. Gay marriage means that there are sperm donors or surrogate mothers. How will these children feel when they are grown? Will they feel that they were cheated of a normal family?
I do support civil unions, but I do not think it should be called marriage.
It is a difficult question. There probably aren't many logical arguments against two people falling in love. It is an emotional reaction of "eewww."
