Re: The O'Reilly Factor Debacle

Rush Limbaugh was phenomenal in the 80s and 90s, esp 90s. Since then he got superceded by local and cheaper talent - not much to it - and lots of stations dropped him...

Re: The O'Reilly Factor Debacle

O'Reilly is pretty notorious for his womanizing. Doesn't anybody remember the "falafel" sponge recording (supposed to be loofah) with one of his hooty mamas several years back? I believe he was married at the time.

Some are of the opinion that this is some sort of conspiracy being led by Democrats and The New York Times due to still being soured on Hillary's loss. Others claim O'Reilly has been a bit of a perv for years and is getting what he deserves. I imagine some of this is being blown out of proportion, but it sounds like many women were sexually harassed or bullied by O'Reilly, who offered more air time to those women who would "accommodate" him.

I respect O'Reilly's analytical skills and to me he has been the anchor of Fox News' theme of fair and he's the one who likely coined the term to begin with. But yes you can tell from his broadcast' that the guy is a philanderer and no way would I trust him around my wife or daughter. But these guys found out for being women chasers land on their feet and become more popular than they were before. Even when they abused their positions of power to do it, they still seem to get a larger following.

Re: The O'Reilly Factor Debacle

The O'Reilly apologist are much like the President Clinton apologists. I guess what it all comes down to is where you are in your political leanings.

Like President Clinton, I'm sure after the dust settles, Mr. O'Reilly will land on his feet and have his 'holy' followers as does Clinton.

I know some will say it is not the same. And, maybe it is not exactly the same, but both are cut from the same cloth in many ways. And, both wield power in many ways. They just have differences in their political leanings and thus have a different group of followers and apologists.

One loses his licenses to practice law, the other potentially loses his prime time air time. Both will continue to influence and make a living doing so.

If they go rid of every celebrity and politician that chased bush (no I don't mean George Bush) there would be nobody left.

If you don't embody controversy, what you say will become just another part of the media driven culture of stifling thought and debate about issues.

I don't think that's much of a positive statement about Fox or O'Reilly though lol.

Re: The O'Reilly Factor Debacle

I used to watch the show religiously and enjoyed it but I haven't seen it in years.

Even bought one of his books. I feel like I have the same exact reaction I did to the Bill Cosby scandal.

When I first heard about Cosby my gut reaction was, "No way, they're just gold digging crazies...."

It wasn't until multiple woman started corroborating the story that I finally accepted its likely true.

I guess its just VERY hard to accept that the tv persona could be SO different than real life. Scary really.

I LOVED that show, learned a lot. Thought Cosby was dad of the century. Really one of my childhood favorites.

I also enjoyed O'Reilly's show. Used to agree with 90% of what he said. Really believed he was sticking up for me.

Just a REAL shame he turned out to be a another scumbag. Guess he's not "looking out for me" after all.....

CNN is irrelevant to the conversation. Whataboutism kills conversation.

Re: The O'Reilly Factor Debacle

O'Reilly is a sexual predator. His former boss, Roger Ailes was also... a sexual predator, who demanded and did get sex from women and discussed sharing those women with other men in the business. Its one of the reasons his wife left O'Reilly. When the boss (Roger) is a perverted old man who used power to get sex, it makes it easy to have people under him, do the same thing.

Just like sexual predator donald trump, who likes to "grab women by the *****" without asking. Kissing them, when they don't know him. Of course, trump defended his fellow sexual predator, O'Reilly. What to expect from a guy who has cheated on 3 wives and walks in on naked teenage girls?

Re: The O'Reilly Factor Debacle

My sister and I discussed the difference between conservatives and progressives on the issue of adultery. We agreed on the personal level both groups react similarly. We disagreed on the fall out into the public personna. Conservatives tend to believe it does very much reduce the trustworthiness of the public personna, progressives much less so. Personally I think he has to go. He has cost fox the loss of many very valuable employees and cost the employe's good jobs. I was also very disappointed in Megan Kelly. She knew about it and kept quiet. Shame on her ! Also about two years ago she began to morph into a bubble head blonde. Losing her I think was a plus, Gretchen was a real loss.

During the last election I was shocked Trump did so well among conservatives. I think the leadership of both parties missed a huge shift. The republicans should have asked themselves "just how pissed at us are these people that they actually voted for Trump?

How to deal with an unrepentant spouse: an Irish person can tell a person to go to hell and have them so excited at the prospect they demand to know when, where the train is leaving and how to get a ticket. Then offer them a loan to get the ticket and a ride to the train station. Be Irish

Hopefully, the russian puppet will be kicked (prison is optional) out before he gets us all killed.

Fox will fill OReilly's spot with someone who costs less and will still get the eyeballs.

Re: The O'Reilly Factor Debacle

Bill O'Reilly is officially fired from the original fake news network. Guess he'll start his own youtube channel to sell penis enhancements just like Alex Jones, who also just said in court that he is only acting the part for entertainment purposes. ie: he's also a liar, a fake.

Why O'Reilly is a fool, but one of the "smart" ones on fox.
He doesn't know what causes ocean tides... a concept easily explained in elementary school. Start at 1m50s

Televised click-bait.

O'Reilly is a moron.

On a side note--I just went and asked my 11-year old daughter if she could explain what causes tides. She nailed it, but she's a nerd for that stuff like her old man.

Amazing, Mr O'Reilly is forced out of his current job on FoxNews but is likely to get a severance package equal to one year salary. Wow.
