Default Democratic seeks to ban vasectomies

Pretty interesting point of view, IMO. This woman is arguing that men who get vasectomies are denying 1000's of children a right to birth, while women’s ability to decide how to proceed with a pregnancy is constantly up for debate throughout the United States. Pretty ingenious if you ask me

I FULLY agree. If you want to tell me what I as a woman can do with my body based on "Not giving life", well then you better be willing to abolish vasectomies and make sure men work 12 jobs since I will be pregnant until I am 45.
F-ing idiots. I love how the men who try to govern womens bodies are men who no woman would f@ck in the first place. Just love it.

My H has always been 100% against abortion UNTIL he experienced the trauma I went through giving birth to our twins... He has a vasectomy now, but if by chance that vasectomy failed, he would be behind me 100% should I get pregnant and have to abort. It's either that, or he raises an infant and our twins without me. We are doing what we can to prevent a pregnancy otherwise I would die.... H changed his tune on this debate.

I know I do (I only posted this because I thought the rebuttal bill was pretty ingenious)... not sure why they keep debating this personally, although this particular issue came up for debate again in Georgia because they're arguing it should be a 20 week cutoff vs the present law of 24 weeks.

(on a personal note, I do think abortions should take place as early as possible for many reasons and I think 20 weeks is too late, but that's just my opinion).

Our country is going down the crapper and our politicians are spending their time on birth control.

Why is birth control an issue? They are now mixing topics, birth control and abortion are two separate issues. I do not think there is an American out there that thinks birth control should be outlawed.

Government should not be mandating what the insurance companies cover. Put it this way if I owned an insurance company I would be giving away birth control. Why? birth control is cheaper than nine months of pregnancy. So why is the government telling the insurance companies what to "give away"? idiots.

I have an idea. Stop spending so much money and stop wasting our time on all the BS

Moot point. Already decided in Griswold v Connecticut (1965)

Already decided is the very issue brought back up in the State of Georgia with this bill they are proposing... Check out Roe vs. Wade, it says 24 weeks. If they can rehash the viability of a fetus, a vasectomy can be rehashed. Good for the goose

Good question.

It's a talking point that while is ultimately a moot issue, is still controversial enough to garner attention on both sides of the political spectrum.

The Republican party exploits it to capture a Christian conservative vote.

The Democrat party exploits it to capture young woman vote.

It's all BS political pandering because it is a moot point.

I suspect that legally, there's a distinction between contraception and abortion as birth control. At least that's the point being made here I think, in a backwards way.

I think the issue is that some feel BC is a form of abortion, so yes, there are some who believe BC should be outlawed (at least within their organizations)...

First off, it isn't about birth control. Secondly, nothing is free.

Somebody will pay for it. Most likely the people who are paying premiums for insurance will pay, it will just be hidden. So the religious people who are against birth control will still be forced to pay for it. The other option is that the insurance companies will reduce other coverage to pay for it. So you get "free" birth control but you no longer have coverage for something else.

The whole thing is not about birth control. It is about promoting the concept that an insurance should be a comprehensive payment plan. We all want insurance in case we break a leg or end up in the hospital for a month. The argument is being changed so that there is an expectation that every medical procedure or product is paid for by a 3rd party. Insurance will no longer be protection against unexpected large bills.

Imagine if your auto insurance didn't just protect you against a large expense if it gets damaged. Imagine if insurance paid for oil changes and even filling up the gas tank. That is the mindset the politicians are trying to create, one of complete dependence.

No private insurance company will survive such mandates. That is the end goal.

I think the point being made here is that the government and society is continually trying to control a woman's body, i.e. when a woman can choose to abort. Why doesn't the govt go after the men for a minute? Why don't they try and control a man's body and what a man can and cannot do with his body, why is always about the woman's body and her future?

I think that's the point of the proposed bill.

I agree, it's a silly bill and so are the groups that keep stepping up to fight over something that has long been settled.

Birth control (pill) does not work by destroying a fertilized egg. It stops ovulation by tricking the brain into thinking you are already pregnant. No egg = nothing to fertilize.

BC works both ways. There are a few different types and they work slightly different ways.
