My biggest piece of advice when discussing politics with anyone is to be respectful of whomever someone is voting for wether that be Obama, Romney, or Gingrich; and don't be all aggressive and insist that someone votes for whomever YOU voted for. Because if you're gonna do that and not be respectful then at the same time go ahead and tell that person what to wear, what to eat for lunch & dinner, and what car they have to buy, and then you may as well just say you support communism too(because that's what they basically do).

So I should not call you a facist bleeping communist idiot for posting the above?
I consider discussing politics to be a fatuous waste of time. In this country, today, the voting of the people is controlled almost entirely by M-adison* Avenue gurus who have spent billion$ analyzing the reactions of average fools to various buzzwords and sound bytes, with the traditional intelligent, political conversations which the people used to have being replaced by football, sensationalistic news stories and mindless computer games.
Ayn Rand once said, “The problem with democracy is that ten ignoramuses can outvote nine philosophers.” This is even truer today than it ever was!
* The censorship of the non-hyphenated form of this word is a perfect example of what I am talking about!

I will need to think about that.
No, because not only do I not go around TELLING people who to vote for, but I also could care less since it's a free country we live in and I have no control over others decisions.
love to discuss politics but in my honest opinion we have little control and all that goes on is planned they know what they are doing and its not always in the people's best interests. I also feel that our presidents are almost chosen.
unfortunately in the UK we have a government who NO-ONE voted for - democracy in action, it sure is beautiful
My country too. We don't vote for our Prime Minister, we vote for our local MP. Though I suppose those who happen to live in the same riding as a "party leader" is running in can.
Most people can understand this when explained to them but are too ignorant to try to comprehend what it means. Nearly everyone it seems think we need electoral reform because they all want to be happy lemmings playing a big popularity contest.
To make it even more demeaning us Canadians don't even live in the same country as our Head of State.
The truth about politics is...... It's all a lie ... and were all controlled and governed by robots.... just watch eyeborgs.... it'll tell ya!!!!! (Runs around screaming about conspiracy and anarchy!!)
Every day there is another controversy involving whichever political party is in power, people go yelling and screaming see how bad the cons are see how bad the libs are yadda yadda, then if power ever does swing to "the other side of the spectrum" (Ha like that really exists) its the same garbage. All the while we can't even vote for the representatives that would be the lesser of two evils because there is genuinely no way to know which one it is. And because all the idiots in every riding that play along with the partisan game and don't actually hold our reps accountable keep voting the way they do it means my vote becomes essentially meaningless, then they wonder why voter apathy is so rampant.
