As I have been doing research on the Holocaust, I have come across some people who believe this horrific event ever happened. For some, they believe, however, they think the death toll is greatly exaggerated. In one post, someone wrote: "anyone who thinks they are a Holocaust Historian is the same as being a Big Foot historian."
In my opinion, I truly believe the Holocaust did happen and I believe the death tolls are about as correct as they can get.
Do any of you feel this way? What do most of you think when you hear of people who do not believe? Are any members of your family survivors?
My Soviet parents and their families fled the Pale eastward in the Summer of 1941. The first moved to Moscow. After the winter of 41-42 they were relocated to the eastern Urals around the Sverdlodsk-Chelyabinsk region to work in factories. My dad's sisters were in the Soviet Army and spent their time clearing out German turncoats and Wehrmacht occupied towns. They didn't liberate any of the camps but they crossed through them in the push west. We have pictures of the remains of places like Janowska and Majdanek taken at the time.
Trust me! The Holocaust happened! And if you should want the endless litany of books that have been written about it, I'll be most happy to try to post them up!
After all, those authors just didn't just write those many books for sheer recreational purposes!
I have been to an actual concentration camp in Austria.
It's a very sobering experience to say the least. I also have a good friend whose Jewish grandparents escaped nazI Germany before it was too late.
I find most holocaust deniers have some hidden political agenda, they don't care about the truth. The Pres of Iran questions it because he is trying to delegitimize the establishment of Israel.
And how can the deniers be so arrogant as to tell western European nations including Germany their own history. Posted via Mobile Device

Of course it did. The numbers are staggering.
The denial just shows you how deep the rhetoric of hate goes with many people.

Do those folks don tin foil hats and go around stating that Auschwitz (Auschwitz-Birkenau - Home Page - Museum) and the other death camps are a big conspiracy?
Seriously you can visit some of the camps to this day. There are tons of testimonials, documents and photographs to prove it.
I can laugh at people who believe in the flat earth theory or that NASA really didn't go to the moon, but questioning the Holocaust disturbs me on so many levels. It's not funny like other ignorant statements people make.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have been very emotionally tied to the Halocaust. I begged my mom to get me more books about it after I read "The Diary of Anne Frank" in 3rd grade. She is my forever hero.
My husband is also very emotional about the Halocaust. We went to see one survivor and both of us couldn't stop crying. Well, Hubs only teared up and kept rubbing his tears away The woman was amazing....her story was so touching. She has held on to the guilt of telling her little brother to go with her mother because she thought he would be safer with their mother.. Her mother and brother were gassed that day How sad to be in your 80s and still live with that memory and guilt. I hugged her after her testimony. She is a hero!
My childhood best friend's gramma still had the numbers tattooed on her wrist. She'd tell us her stories and even as a kid, I just felt overly compassionate about it.
It happened. People don't make up that horrible shet.
Mel gibsons father is a well known holocaust denier. Most deniers are also haters.

As with everything else controversial, the truth about this lies somewhere between the two extremes of opinion. A study was made in the 1950’s, by the International Red Cross, in which it was determined that a total of some 350,000 Jews died in Nazi concentration camps during WW2. The “6,000,000” figure was first seen in an anti Semitic book published in the 1890’s. I suppose it seemed natural to those revisionists who wrote the history of WW2, after the fact, to use it for their own purposes.
One doesn’t have to have too much imagination to see the way that International Zionism has manipulated and subverted entire nations, since even before the First World War, to achieve their goal of Israel. It started with invented stories about other ships, beyond the Lusitania, supposedly sunk by German submarines with the loss of American lives, and included ruthless Zionist propaganda designed to get the American people fired up about entering the war. One can still see examples on the internet of this, in which German soldiers are shown, in period publications, bayoneting babies. Nothing like this ever happened.
If you want to do your own research on this subject, you should bear in mind that the Mossad has had over 60 years to scour the earth in their effort to eliminate all traces of history which might reflect negatively on Israel or Zionism. With enough effort, however, sufficient evidence can still be found to provide a much more balanced picture than the one with which average people are, today, familiar. Start by “googling” The Balfour Declaration. The site, NSM : National Socialist Movement Party Headquarters and other such White and Aryan racialist sites have credible links to valuable historical information, although it is unfortunate that this good scholarship has to be associated with something as discredited, in the popular mind, as Neo-Nazism.

I care how many people were murdered, but agree with the sentiment I think you are expressing. If someone proved that it was only 2 million that were murdered, then what? Would we suddenly say, "Wow! Hitler wasn't so bad after all." Of course not! But that's what I almost feel like some people are trying to say when they say the numbers are exaggerated.
It's unfathomable to me what happened, but I have no doubt it happened. There are too many stories, too many books, too many first hand accounts, and they correlate too closely. It couldn't have been fabricated. It happened. It was terrible to an unfathomable depth.
Maybe it's easier for some people to not deal with it by just not believing it happened, but what they believe is irrelevant in a historical perspective. The holocaust happened. They need to come to grips with it.

And when you read something like this, it's easy to believe it could happen again. Emperor Palpatine couldn't pull off the kind of conspiracy that the "international zionist movement" is being credited with. There is nothing scholarly about the National Socialist Movement, but like many other organizations, I can see why they would cling onto whatever they could find that sounds somewhat scholarly to try to uphold a point. But what would their point be?
Any time I see something that assumes people to be stupid, or ignorant, or to not have the real source as is stated in the words "With which average people are, today, familiar" I find plenty to be skeptical of ... with the person making that statement.
