Default She's married, and she's a prostitute

this might not be the right section, but it said 'anything controversial', so i thought it might be.

i was watching a program earlier today, about a prostitute... who's married. her husband is aware of her profession, she does this for a living and even has a license for this (this program is American and the woman is from Texas, i THINK). to be honest, i knew nothing about this and had never heard about it before, so was a bit surprised.

but what surprised me more, was that the husband knew that his wife was out there, having sexual relationships with so many other men, but still embrace her lovingly and adoringly when she returns after doing what she does for a living.

so basically, i just wanted to know what you guys think about this? we're not judging or anything, but what's your opinion on this? i'm just curious to know. i just find it so difficult to understand how this man can take all that in his stride.

though he did admit being slightly embarrassed when his wife would openly admit or claim (shout it out) in public places or pubs (when she's drunk) that she's a b****. and he'd rather she didn't act like that.

I would never be with a woman that shared herself in anyway with another man, period. Before and after I got married to my wife we talked about what was okay and what wasn't.

I don't think it is legal to be a prostitute in Texas.

I knew a friend whom had a wife that was an "escort" and was busted for prostitution and he was accused as well and served jail time.

One place I have never been is in jail and I never would want to be.

If it was my wife, I'd turn her in and file for divorce.

I think that may be legal in Las Vegas, but I don't think it is in Texas.

But on topic. I'm not a guy, but I would have a problem with this if my SO wasn't a prostitute when I married them. If they were already in the profession at the exchanging of vows and I knew it, it would be a little silly to expect them to stop 'cause I said so.

Certain parts of my husband's life have been promised exclusively to myself. The same goes for him.

In their case, this is apparently something he's okay with. Who knows? Maybe it's an idea he likes or he enjoys hearing about her adventures. It might work for them.

Well seeing as so many people try threesomes or swinging, it's kind of the same. Still I could only dedicate myself to one woman and only want her to dedicate herself to me.

I think that this couple has a good handle on what their relationship means to them. I see nothing wrong with their having this arrangement and give kudos to the fellow who married, knowing this, and didn't set out to change his wife to suit his ideas about how life should be!

In most cases I's say you know what you married into and you should not try to "fix", "save" or "change" your partner. However since the activities are illegal the guy is plain dumb to be involved with her. She is risking her health and life and that of a partner. If this was a drug dealer would people be as forgiving? How about if this was a gang member?

evenow, i do think you're right about the Las Vegas thing, i might have got it wrong.
draconis, in the program, the woman went on and on about how she has a license to practice this and that it is legal and all... and with what evenow says about it being legal in LV... it might be true?

the guy DID seem to have a problem with it... he just seemed to like the woman too much to tell her about it straight out and the woman was like NO, I HAVE NO REASON TO BE ASHAMED... NO I WON"T CHANGE FOR ANYONE... and things like that.

so i actually think that he doesn't like it... and is insecure about it, but he just likes her so much, and she is so determined and stubborn about it (well, i guess she's entitled to that since it's her life...), that he just doesn't have the guts to tell her I DON"T LIKE IT.

but like draconis said, it's a risk to their health... basically, their whole lives.

and what about children afterwards? specially after doing an international program like that... shouldn't the person worry about the labels or prejudice or persecution that their children might be subject to?

Texas Prostitution laws (IT ISN"T LEGAL UNDER ANY LAW.)

Section 43.02.
(3) "Sexual contact" means any touching of the anus,
breast, or any part of the genitals of another person with intent to
arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person.
(4) "Sexual conduct" includes deviate sexual
intercourse, sexual contact, and sexual intercourse.
(5) "Sexual intercourse" means any penetration of the
female sex organ by the male sex organ.

43.02. PROSTITUTION. (a) A person commits an offense
if he knowingly:
(1) offers to engage, agrees to engage, or engages in
sexual conduct for a fee; or
(2) solicits another in a public place to engage with
him in sexual conduct for hire.
(b) An offense is established under Subsection (a)(1)
whether the actor is to receive or pay a fee. An offense is
established under Subsection (a)(2) whether the actor solicits a
person to hire him or offers to hire the person solicited.

Late response but I wanted to add that yes, prostitution is legal in parts of Nevada. Most notably Pahrump, NV. You can google this info. I was wrong about Las Vegas although they do have many "escort" services that are pretty honest with their wares. Prostitution isn't a federal crime, it's handled locally by each state and in the case of Nevada it is handled on a county basis. You can see that in the Texas law posted previously you would be prosecuted by the state, not federal government.

I'm honestly not being "open minded" or "forgiving" about this situation. I'm saying it's not the guy's decision. She's doing what she wants with her life and he can't change that. No value statements, there's just nothing he can do. Legal or not, good or bad, helpful or harmful, he's got to decide whether he wants to be a part of that or not. He's decided that he can live with it. Whether he likes it or not is actually rather irrelevant.

And as for the safety of the profession, there are many other professions out there that do have physical, mental and biological risks that are deemed okay by society. I don't think safety is the real issue. Would it be okay if she was a porn star? A stripper? Someone that pretended to have sex on stage (an actress--like Angelina Jolie)? Posted naked pictures online? Had phone/cyber sex for money? These are all non-illegal, safer avenues that, yes I would have a problem with. But if I take my partner's money and buy food with it/pay rent with it I've made my choice.

I apologize if that came out as a rant. I just wonder how much it really bothers him if he's still there and going on a "Jerry Springer/Jeremy Kyle" program to garner a little sympathy.

BTW, did they mention how they met? I'm rather curious if he was a customer.

my fiance and i watched this show about a woman who became a porn star. she was originally a ballet dancer but once she couldnt make it to the top in new york, she resided to dancing, and then became a big porn star to survive. later she met her husband, a frenchman, and told him all about it. they got married, and have a boy.

they asked the husband what he thought about it. he says he supports her and what she does. even though on his face you can clearly see that he does not like it, but supports his wife anyhow. and he says he's jealous of the relationship his wife and his child have together; a strong close bond. she teaches her son to respect who he is and what she does and that they love each other.

they showed a segment of while she was on the job that before she has to perform she calls her husband and he says "be nasty, be very nasty" as words of encouragement.

personally, if it were me, i (a female) i could not be with someone who has shared himself with many people. even if my fiance is not a prostitute, there are male prostitutes out there, i still could not accept this. there may come to a point that he doesnt use protection and being that the vagina is a receptive organ is more susceptible to diseases.

I'm ok with it.
If anything, a little turned on at the thought of it. Mind you, when in my teens or twenties I couldn't have coped. But now much more open minded and resilent.

I was stationed in germany with the British Army for nearly 4 years. Anywho prostitution is rampant, and cheap.Soldiers being soldiers the business the prozies got from the military was quite significant, people were quite open about it. The vast majority of my male friends visited one at least once.

Anywho one of the guys on camp hooked up with a latvian girl who was a prozie, although he didn't meet her through work apparently. Anywho he used get massive **** about it then we found out she had a kid and people were just gobsmacked.

He pretty much shrugged it off though, even when guys were turning up at her 'workplace' looking to shag her. In the end she moved to a different location. I never heard it from him directly but he told one of my mates that the reason he stayed with her was that she was an awesome gf, she was pretty easy going, she liked him cause she could be open about her job and he didn't seem to mind.

Anywho last I heard it was still going strong, so I suppose as long as you have a certain type of personality, it just won't bother you.
