Default New taxes

Well if I were the republicans, I would just shut up right now and let the democrats shoot themselves in the foot. Then grab as many seats in the next legislative election as possible and so on until the next presidential election.

Right now some of the new taxes they are proposing is completely idiotic, and as a independent voter, I would quickly shift to the republicans in the next election.

I mean $175 per cow for farting??? Do you know how many farms this would put out of business and how the prices will explode for food?? idiots if they pass this stupid idea, who ever though of ti needs to live in a cow pasture.

Cow tax proposal on ‘methane emissions’ would threaten agriculture and push carbon tax

Obama is going to implode and HOPEFULLY take Pelosi with him. Someone in Washington needs to get a grip.

I watched a documentary on how the methane gas produced from cows is the major cause of the depletion of the ozone. Who discovered that?

I'd hate to have that job.

Not only are we going to tax cows for their farting, but here's my favorite...

During the campaign McCain talked about possibly counting the health benefits you get from your employer as income.

Obama lambasted him for it, said things like "there are millions without health care and now you want to tax it?"

Now, less than a few months into his administration, his way for off setting the costs of the new government health care system is?...

You got it, counting your employee health care as income...

Hypocritical to say the least.

Obama's staff are hosing him due to their stupidityv.

Someone had him FIRE a guy and they didn't EVEN TELL OBAMA "You gotta WAIT 30 days and tell CONGRESS before YOU sign the paperwork to DO the firing"!! Hope he fires whatever staffer gave that one to him.

I am a complete Obama supporter. I believe in taxing the rich to pay for everything that regular folks can't afford, healthcare being the top one. Also, I voted a straight Democratic ticket all the way down to the local level and will continue to do so until the completely immoral wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are over. Military adventurism is a moral outrage that dishonors this country. The wealthy elites who want the poor man to pay for everything are crapping their pants in fear at this bright, positive, young President who stands for the little guy. If you make tons of money, how about some compassion for people who have lost their jobs due to the greed of a few coporate fatcats? Forge ahead, Mr. President.

YES WE CAN!

While I voted for obama, I have to disagree with this tax,and stop being blind.

Taxing Farmers for Cows and Pigs that fart is OUTRAGEOUS!!! how can you stop farting? How will a small farmer compete? they can't only the really big farmers could survive this tax.

MR. R were you ever in the Military? I was they have socialized medicine in the Military, it SUCKS, the care is third rate and deplorable conditions in some places.

I want smart Policy, not stupid politics.

This country best functions when one party is in the white house and the other party is in charge of the congress. Once either party is in charge of both we get stupid laws that cater to the "far wing" of either party.

I don't think we need a goverment helthcare plan, but how about legislation that will allow private companies to offer lower and middle option healthcare plans.

IE Gassoccerman insurance can offer...

Plan A $100 a month covers all vacines and Doctor visits with a co-pay of $10 covers 70% of all major medical cost.

Plan B $250 a month co pay of a $15 covers 80% of all major medical cost

Plan C $500 a month co pay of $25 covers 95% of all major medical costs.

I pull in a group of Doctors and hospitals and work with them, part of the plan allows me to take ownership of your personal property if you fail to pay your medical cost or place a lein on your house....work something out.

There is a nbeeter way of solving this, part of it is people in this country are to freeaking lazy to take care of themselves and diet and exercise.

We are a country of fat, lazy, complaining wannabe's with no self responsibility. Take charge and take care of yourself so hopefully you don't need pills to help you with high blood pressure becuase your buttt couldn't stop eating McDonoalds every freaking day....sorry....tangent

I am not a fan of Obama... he has some good ideas but we are going further and further into debt. They are not realistic and workable ideas... more pipedreams.

My best bet and saving grace in all this... is when they ( obama adminstration) cook the books during this adminstration I can get out of the stock market while its cooking...
and go into cd's ( laddered) as I'm ready to pull out anytime.

Shouldn't be too long before the books start to sizzzle
and I'm pulling it all out of the stock market for good.... when I start to smell the bacon cooking
( I'm retired and can do that now)... so go on Obama and your henchmen, start cooking.. I'm patiently waiting and will be sure I'm out of the market before you destroy this country.

ps...
I want to add. Seen him on the news a lot this week. He's not even funny, he';s trying soooo hard to be funny, he just is pathetic. I see the whole situation with him and the liberals, as really pathetic.
That Nancy Pelosi.... wtf is that? my gosh... people want her in OFFICE? what is this country coming to? she is no more than a lip flapping big mouth with selective memory.
She is awful and she makes me sick to hear her "speak" too.

speaker of the house... lol !!! what a joke !

Unfortunately its not usually the wealthy that get taxed the most; they can hire people to evade taxes. its usually the middle class that gets hit hardest.

I hate taxes. i think they should be abolished. right now my taxes, and tons of others taxes, are going to support two of my sisters so they can play around with their drug addict boyfriends and have babies all over the place- and im sure this is no isolated event. they "accidentally" give their debit cards (government money goes straight to those cards) to their drug addict husbands. and then they say the card was 'stolen'. nice. guess who gets to foot the bill while they keep taking. Then they have unprotected sex and get pregnant to manipulate their husbands...and the husbands leaves. Day care, school, supplies, food, and everything is paid for by tax payers; not just for my sister, or her drug addict, by now a child.

But times that all by three. my other sister and her boyfriend decided to just quit their jobs and go around the country. they apply for aide now. guess who gets to fund their joy ride....and of course she thought it'd be good to get pregnant so tax payers can pay for her baby too.

taxing is dumb. it breeds laziness and dysfunction. So Yes we Can!...pay for dysfunction.

You are completely blind if you think that only the "rich" are being taxed.

1. The new cigarette/tobacco taxes. Who do you think smokes more? Statistics show that ~30% of people who make <$60k/yr smoke while only ~13% of people who make >$60k/yr smoke. So, that new $1/pack tax that just got added on (and soon to be $2/pack) taxes the poor, not the "rich".

2. The proposed taxing your healthcare benefits, that's another good one. In 2008 the average family coverage plan across America for employer provided health care was about $13k/yr. Of which the employee averages paying ~1.5k/yr. So, with the new proposal the employee now would have to be taxed on the $11.5k that the employer is paying for you. Now, a family making <$60k/yr would have to pay 15% on that, which is an extra $1750 paid in income taxes each year. Now, the guy making millions would have to pay about $4375 in added income taxes on that same $11.5k. Do you think it will hurt the poor family making <$60k to pay almost $2000 in extra taxes? Yep. Do you think it will hurt the millionaire to pay an extra $4300 in taxes? He won't even blink an eye. Another tax that hurts the middle class and the poor.

3. Taxing animal farts...come on, there is not a privately owned farm in a America where the farmer is "rich". Yet his taxes just went up.

4. Some of his proposed taxes that include gasoline, energy (your electric/gas bills), etc. If someone that is poor or middle class sees their monthly gas/electric bill go up by 30-50% (some of the estimates once the carbon cap and trade BS goes through) and their pump prices go up due to federal taxes, it will hit their pockets hard. To the millionaire, why would I care if my electric bill is $150 or $200? Another tax that hurts the poor and middle class but the wealthy doesn't blink at.

5. How about the idea of a national sales tax that is being discussed at this time? Add a couple % to your bill every time you buy something, the poor/middle class it hurts, the wealthy don't care.

The wealthy only get hit hard when it comes to income taxes and their bracket getting hit harder, and eliminating tax loop holes. Everyone of Obama's new taxes, so far, have gone to hurt the poor/middle class, he only has said that he will allow the Bush tax breaks to expire in 2010, so the wealthy would get hit by a couple % on income taxes while the poor/middle class is already getting hit with all these other taxes.

If you truly think he is only taxing the "rich", then you need to get your head out of the sand.

Also, please tell me what "rich" is, because even Obama has changed that 10 or 15 times. It was anyone making >$75k at one point, then it was $250k, then it was $225k, then his VP slipped up and said $150k. With no mention of single vs family incomes in there. I mean if I was single making what I make now I would consider myself VERY well off (I make right around $100k depending on yearly bonuses), however, with a wife who is a stay at home mom with 3 boys, I am middle class, and work paycheck to paycheck like most of us.

So please Mr. R, define "rich", the President can't nail it on the wall since he changes it all the time, just curious what you think "rich" is.

Just what I expected, a bunch of republican propaganda. You want Bush back? I don't think so. If you are able to help others and choose not to, then the law will force that help through taxes. And if you don't pay your taxes, you go to jail and the government takes what you own.

As for calling me RobinHood, thank you. Even though the story has been conclusively proven to be mostly mythologized, the man was a hero without question. My screen name is not taken from that, but that was a clever association. The screen name has a more personal significance.

My definition of rich? 100k+ a yr household income. Tax deductions would of course apply for children and other dependents (such as elderly parents).

The poor outnumber the rich and this will one day lead to very bad consequences if the wealthy do not see the desperation of the masses and resolve to lay down their greed. The election of Barack Obama was the result of years of abuse of the poor by the wealthy, and also a rejection of the immoral wars that crook Bush lied us into. I am confident that with the continuing revelation of the excesses of the rich (such as Sir Allen Stanford) as well as the tone-deaf obstructionism of the Republican party, the Democratic party will grow its majorities in both houses of Congress in 2010 and that Pres. Obama will handily win re-election in 2012. The Republicans' only hope will be to tear themselves free of their slavish devotion to the predatory capitalists that seem to pull their strings. I close with a quote I remember from college (I forget who said it):"Let justice be done though the heavens should fall." If the heavens have to fall for the common people to receive a share of America's prosperity, so be it.
