Default Mort Fertel's Program gift giving need advice

Hi,

If you receive the free advice from Mort Fertel and have gotten to step three its give a gift from the heart...I'm doing some real thinking and can't come up with anything. He's a contractor and can and does build just about anything but has a lot of tools, he's in to outdoors, fishing, shooting, archery, dirt bike riding, does not wear jewelry except earrings and a body piercing, clothes he would consider necessity not from the heart, loves music but will just download to his ipod when a new album comes out. Anyway, I am at a loss. He's also not big, never has been on sappy things. I don't know that I have ever bought well for him, usually I ask what he wants and just go get that. I'd really like to get a gift that that makes him feel really good. One year for Valentine's I did get him a subscription for massages which he has kept up and that he really appreciated. Anyway, any advice would be appreciated.

One immediate thought came to mind, You mention dirt bike ridding. Maybe he would appretiate going to a dirt bike event. Watch a show get pumped up then want to go ride. I know i would!!

I have the same issue as my husband will usually go out and buy something if he wants it. I think gifts from the heart aren't necessarily romantic, but something that they will appreciate and know that you put a lot of thought into getting them something they would enjoy.

My husband does woodworking as a hobby so for his birthday (he has many tools) I got him a hand-crafted dovetail saw (from adria toolworks). I don't know anything about tools, but this looked like a piece of art & he loved it

He also likes to fish and bought himself a GPS that tracks the fish underwater & had fun with it when we were out fishing a few weeks back. Although it seemed we were catching fish when there were none on the screen and when it showed a school of fish, we caught nothing!

I have also made him a CD of music that reminds me of 'us'...a song from a concert we went to together, etc. not all sappy stuff but he likes to listen to it in his car.

Thank you. That GPS thing is pretty neat, he would probably get a kick out of that.

my husband's mother usually buys all his needs (yes, sore spot in our marriage) but I am trying to think of things that are not needs. GPS is a good idea, I know he wants one. Expense is part of my problem with gift giving. very little funds to work with. I think I will try to get him to do (I'm in the lone ranger track/separated/living in different cities) the intimacy interview (or part of it) which should give me some good ideas hopefully. Has everyone done the interview yet?

New ipod with an inscription from you? Or just a cover with an inscription? Ipod case.
Dress up in dirt bike clothes and surprise him
personal sticker (you can get them custom made) of something that is special to you too - perhaps a pet name he has for you?

We did the interview K'Lynn, but it didn't really help much. I knew everything he liked already. With him, it's just a matter of accepting the gift in his heart.

I really have been able to come up with a few good things lately, using my noggin. He accepts them but doesn't seem to happy about it...but then isn't that the point? Isn't it when we 'touch' them that they start to run because we interfere with what they want...and for me it just shows that I am striking a nerve. Besides, it really does make me like him better when I am investing in him. Strange but true. I did the interview..he was willing. So that helped a lot. It's not easy, but I am seeing tiny little defenses come down.

All the best.

Lol...don't think I want to inscribe his current 'pet name' for me. These are some good suggestions though. Still plugging away.
