Default Newsweek: Spanking Goes Mainstream

Working Women

Interesting perspective ... from a woman.

And let's face it, dudes aren't out buying 'Fifty Shades of Grey' to keep it on the bestsellers list.

Mommy-porn? Sweet ...

There is alot to be said about spanking, my kids got spanked once long time ago, there both great young adults. My wife on the other hand seems to need one more often then not.

My wife has always been fascinated with the movie Secretary. She says, "It's really sick when you think about it." --But she watches it anyway.

This stuff seems to emerge as a new "trend" every few years. I think many women like it some of the time and some of them like it all of the time. The Yahoo! article today taking this Newsweek cover story down was odd, kind of getting meta when we have articles about articles about books.

My wife is big on this stuff but seems to keep pushing this tendency down because she has a competing tendency to try and run the show everywhere else but the bedroom. I think it's okay that people are into this stuff but it gets tiresome sometimes waiting for people like my wife to be okay with their own desires.

My wife and I tried it.... Turned out, she really liked it....

Then one day we were messing around, and I brushed her foot lightly so it tickled.... She liked that too...

Turns out she likes it really hard and fast if we do it doggy style... Plus she likes to be spanked while I'm doing her that way.... And tickled on her foot!

I need a couple more freaking arms!

Loved Secretary. Mostly loved Fifty Shades of Grey. It kinda pisses me off, though, whenever an author portrays D/s in a way that makes it seem like you have to be a psychologically damaged person to be a dominant or submissive. This was the case in both Secretary and Fifty Shades. Is it that they think it's necessary in order to make it mainstream? I dunno.

D/s is almost like a sexual orientation for me, not just a spice for the bedroom. It's not something I discovered later in life after some sexual experimentation. It's just the way I've always been and so is inseparable from my sexuality. Spanking is and always has been a huge part of that. I can and do enjoy vanilla sex...occasionally as a novelty with lots of foreplay. I can enjoy vanilla sex with little touches of dominance or submission quite frequently. It really doesn't take much to make it work for me...a little tug on the hair, hands pinned, etc. As long as it's there in at least a mild way, I'm easy to get revved up. Of course, I don't want to give up the more intense D/s, either, but since I have a greater need for it than my partner, we compromise. We've both become more versatile because of it.

The necktie is a stock image. Can't find it anywhere A grey Ermenegildo Zegna micro-circles or micro-squares tie comes sorta close, but no cigar. I'm pretty sure it'd still work the same, though.

Agree. All you have to do is crack a few romance novels to see this. Romance is the biggest-selling fiction genre in the US. There's a reason why almost every single one of them has a very alpha hero.

Up until the last two decades or so, spanking seemed to be in about 75% of mainstream romance novels. I have no idea if that's factual...it's just my guesstimate based upon my skimming all of the dusty romances on my grandmother's bookshelf back in the day lol. Who knows? Maybe there's a hereditary factor and grandma...ok, I don't wanna think about that.

Anyway, I learned quickly which authors I could depend on. Johanna Lindsey, for example. Funnily enough (sadly, IMO), many of the reprints of the older books have undergone much editing and later versions have omitted many of the spanking scenes. But a good portion of even the newer mainstream romances still at least mention spanking.

That's a $200 tie! Wow!?! Might need to with some OT!

lol You could get it cheaper. I bet the tie on that book cover isn't even 100% silk. Christian Grey's tie is supposed to be silk and the Zegna is the closest I can find that fits that part of the description.

But yeah, $200 is ridiculous for any tie. For that price, you could get fairly decent quality light bondage gear, thereby doing away with the need for the tie in the first place

Unless you were just wanting it to wear it like a normal person, but where's the fun in that?

I am a submissive in a fairly new relationship. I've never done this before, so it's all quite new and exciting. I feel like I've finaly met the man who is perfect for me in every way.
I watched the secretary and found it very strange, personally my relationship isn't like that, however I do get spanked a lot.
I think it's the perfect relationship , it's always exciting for us both. There are no secrets and we have a very hot sexual and emotional connection. Makes for the perfect long term relation ship.

Congrats on the new relationship, LittleDeer

I think most people found Secretary strange. I related to almost all of it, so it didn't seem strange to me at all. I think that must mean I'M strange
