So women have testosterone, right? Does testosterone have anything to do with a woman's sex drive? I am just asking because I think that i have a little too much testosterone, maybe? I'm really an athletic and competitive person....I can tell you more about football than most men could...I have no shame....and my main concern is my sex drive....I never really thought twice about this after coming to this site and seeing men talk about their wives sex drives....and also how men are so sexual because of testosterone. I can have sex once a day (probably more)....but even though my husband satisfies me in bed, i still masturbate once or twice a day as well.....This seems like too much......Should I go to the dr? i don't suffer from facial hair or a deep voice....i just think I'm kind of guy-ish? Any other women out there like this? Should i maybe take an estrogen supplement?
I think messing with your natural hormone levels should really only be done if there's a medical reason or a life quality issue. You have neither, so don't sweat it.
There are all kinds of men and women, it's that variety that makes life interesting and fun.

I find I'm more like you than SOME other women here who could go the rest of there lives without ever needing sex or not very often.
But than my husband isn't like most men who would happily meet the needs of a woman who wants sex 1x's a day. So if you guys sex drived are matched just be happy about it. THere's nothing wrong with that.
If you're not suffering ...why mess with it? Being a horny being isn't a bad thing. And as far as I can tell, you don't grow out of it! Some of us are just LUCKY!!!!

I felt like you for 8 long months when I hit 42... My story all over this forum...before that time, my sex drive was normal and after that spell...I feel it was exactly the same as before....(needing forplay again).... but my mind changed so much during that time...that I remained highly sexual, and am thankful for this experience tremendously.
My voice didn't change, no facial hair (I always had to pluck a few on my chin though)......but I was ready to go 24/7....continously wet... had fantasies taking over my mind... I felt like my body was walking on air ....not a single pain anywhere.... I hardly needed sleep..... my temperature seemed hotter ....husband used to complain "why are you so HOT"..... my underarms , no matter how much I washed them -had a stronger smell (like my sons in puberty)..... I started to crave watching porn-rented it even .... I became more aggressive, and I wanted HIM to be more aggressive with me (that was something new -never cared before)........ Yep, I stepped into a YOUNG man's hormonally charged drive all right....couldn't get it off the brain and wanted to bang 3 times a day!
To this day, I can't understand how high drive men can stand this....it was like a curse... but when he was on top of me.... .pure Heaven. My orgasms came quicker, heck one time I jumped on top & within seconds...it was over.
I was enjoying the crap out of this, so long as I got it once a day....(even called it my fix -cause clearly I became addicted).... if he denied me, I probably would have taken his head off & felt like I was going to die. I was also highly emotional during this time...about his desire... so an Aggressive ..highly sensitive woman....God help the man ! Thank God my husband loves me so much!
I did buy a couple toys during that time -feeling I am going to need them, but he didn't want me to use them , told me he wanted me to use him (made me feel very loved -his attitude)...He never allowed me to feel like a burden...
I did go to the OBGYN & asked, but she brushed me off saying "just enjoy it"... I wish so bad I had my hormones checked then! They had to be off the charts for a female. I did send my husband to get his checked when he couldn't keep up -found out he was lower test. This worried me for months on end. But he is fine.
Oh I so understand how you feel. Always curious to hear other women's stories.... Mary35 went through this too.... but in her case, she started some Hormone treatment. There was nothing I did or took... it just happened !! ... There was a # of events that culminated during that time to RISE my hormones , which I believe had this raging effect on me.
What a blessing in hindsite -greatest boost to our marraige -ever !
I agree with the others ... if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
As long as you don't have annoying symptoms of testosterone excess in women like excessive growth of sexual hair, balding on the head, acne, clitoral growth, oily skin, and a deepening of the voice, then I would count my blessings and just enjoy.
Testosterone has everything to do with sex drive. That's the hormone that makes you want sex and feel sexual. And there's nothing wrong with being guy like.... This could have been predestined from birth if you now have a wide chin and small eyes that stem from high test from the womb, vs large doll eyes and high cheek bones/small chin that indicate larger estrogen from birth.
I would say your sex drive is right where it needs to be but if three times a day seems like two much for you then cut back and use that energy for a more productive hobby. You teach yourself to have a higher sex drive by masturbating more so why not try working out at those times instead or disenguaging from the act before you reach orgasm.... stop in time and the next time you have sex you'll come even harder
I think the fact that you are athletic and thus I assume exercise frequently just boosts the natural levels of testosterone, it's a good thing (unless you find yourself standing while you pee)
Hey zali, my wife had a "normal" sex drive until she started/tried anal. I know that sounds weird but her sex drive went from us having sex 3 times a week (her really wanting sex probably once a week) to us now having sex twice a day. Every morning, she will wake me up and initiate, usually making me orgasm in her "anally", and once at night before we go to bed (sometimes anal but more normal intercourse at night). I did some research and have learned that the colon absorbs alcohol directly into the bloodstream (more so than stomach) and it does not have the acids the vagina or stomach have. There is a lot of testosterone (along with other positive mood altering hormones) in semen and my wifes aggressive behavior and sex drive have sky rocketed. I am not saying it's totally because of this act but it definitely has helped, which explains why she almost seems addicted and forces me to ejaculate in her. She gets very angry if I do not let her swallow or try to pull out. I have read that some women get chemically addicted to what the semen does to their bodies (in vagina), I just wonder if this is more extreme if its done in the colon, which absorbs into the bloodstream much easier. I know that doesn't explain much, but I think her sex drive also has to do with her elevated testosterone levels.
I am at the point where I will always perform for her but half way through sex I will not even want to orgasm. I still enjoy all the feelings and sensations but just do not have the desire to finish. Of course, she insists and will not stop until I do.
She is also very competitive with other women. No extra hair growth, no balding, not into sports but does watch boxing with me.
Does testosterone therapy help increase sex drive in women? What are the pros and cons?
Answer from Mary M. Gallenberg, M.D.
Research shows that the hormone testosterone does effectively boost sex drive — as well as remedy other sexual problems — in certain women with sexual dysfunction. But the long-term safety of testosterone therapy for women is unknown. For this reason, some doctors are hesitant to recommend testosterone therapy.
Testosterone therapy usually is prescribed only for women who have sufficient estrogen levels and not for women who are postmenopausal and can't or choose not to take estrogen.
Testosterone therapy might be appropriate if:
You have reduced sex drive, depression and fatigue after surgically induced menopause and estrogen therapy hasn't been effective in relieving your symptoms
You're postmenopausal, you're taking estrogen therapy and you have a decreased sex drive with no other identifiable causes...
I would definitely say, the more you are ejaculated in, the more testosterone will be in your bloodstream. So women with a high sex drive get even an extra boost. It's funny, because if a woman takes a break for a few months, for whatever reason, they usually say, "Since then, I have learned to not need sex so much....." It probably also has a lot to do with that huge decrease in not getting semen/testosterone in those few months "off". That idea is extremely "boosted" depending on where it is left in a females body as well. The stomach being the worst place, the colon being the best.
I've wondered the same thing. I have discovered I have a very high sex drive and seem to think of it ALL the time - like you'd expect a man to.
Unfortunately for me, my other half has a low sex drive. This has got worse and worse, resulting in me nagging and nagging and nagging. Eventually I convinced him to have his testosterone checked - it is is super low. Although we found this out about 6 weeks ago the doc and endoctrinologist (?) are still wanting more tests so nothing has improved.
I get so frustrated, especially since he's used to not wanting it so he's not bothered
Funny thing is, Ive always had a decent amount of sex (which I assumed was normal) it's only since I've been with my partner than Ive realised how high my drive actually is. Its definitely like a physical need, I get really really grumpy.
I'm the same way. I would love sex 1 to three times a day but my stbxh could only handle once a day. I used to mastrabate two times a day to make up for him not being able to preform as much as I wanted. Although I could care less about watching sports, I have been on sports teams all my life and think I have a more dominant personality in general. No extra hair anywhere though and I look very feminine as well. I always thought I just had a healthy sex drive, never had any problems with any exes before my stbxh as far as sex drive, they could all go up to three times a day happily,...sigh.

*edit: I haven't had semen inside me since last September and I still feel this way, always have since puberty hit I guess.

Interesting. So it's safe to say you masturbate 3 times a day now (previously it was sex once, masturbating twice)?
It seems some women may get a little defensive by the idea of semen actually helping them develop more of a sex drive, which is understandable. Semen doesn't create a sex drive, but it does release testosterone into your bloodstream, which can boost a woman's sex drive. I guess it would depend on how a woman reacts to the little bit of extra testosterone (how her body absorbs, where it was placed, etc), as everyone is different. It's nature though, and nature wants a woman to want semen.
Do you feel your sex drive now is exactly the same being without a partner? Same amount of masturbating, same urges, same assertive behavior in getting yourself off? If you are masturbating once a day now, or still twice, because..... "Well, I have so much other things to worry about, especially since I am in the middle of a seperation." That is understandable, but it also may explain the lack of the slight extra boost.
Each sex has both testosterone and estrogen. We need both. Men have more testosterone and women have more estrogen, but testosterone has to do with sex drive...but it doesn't make you manly to have a healthy sex drive.
DO NOT eff with your hormones until you see a doctor. You can screw yourself up ROYALLY.
You are fine. I'm the same way and feel very womanly and feminine.
