I think a lot of guys view oral sex as this ****ty sex act that women do.
What I mean is that even though men want women to give them oral, some men view the woman as being a **** for doing it.
I used to tease my bf's in the past about what they would think about their sisters or mothers giving blowjobs, I could always tell if there was a touch of hypocracy in them asking me to go down on me.

I've found guys I'm with really appreciate it, and it removes sex as being a possible source of aggro in the relationship.

Yep I let him finish in my mouth and I do swallow (not the greatest taste in the world but you just gotta get on with it and he's gotta taste me so I guess it's only fair really)
You can get "lock jaw" if it goes on for too long long, when this happens I will put him into overdrive by either getting myself off while still giving him oral or I will use a vibe on him in "certain" areas to push him over and this normally works.
