Re: If you dare, post pictures you took

#4 is the JW Marriott in Cancun, Mexico. I had 3 trips to Cancun on business (Oh yes I DID work while there ... and my wife and son went out and enjoyed the day while I was working!!! But when the weekend comes, it ain't all work ).

On this one, I know I have a picture of a fantastic sunrise from this room, but I didn't put it in my "Top 10 rooms" album for some reason, so I won't post it here.

#3 was my hotel room at Turtle Bay in Laie, Hawaii. I had to go here for a week of work with the Polynesian Cultural Center. I think this was 2008.

Look closely in this next one. I'm taking the picture from the balcony of the room, and if you look, you can see the sea turtle in the water.

I cheated a little bit for #2. This is not a hotel room, and is not in the company I worked here. This is where I ate breakfast in Auckland, New Zealand. However; I liked the view so much that I brought some work with me one morning so I could say I technically worked here, so I could include it .

The Breakfast View in Auckland, New Zealand.

As the sun come up, it truly became a "Golden morning." This is what solidified it for me - it had to be in the album.

Re: If you dare, post pictures you took

#1 in my "Top 10 rooms with a view" album is from the 8th floor of the JW Marriott in Kapolei, Hawaii. Of course, my wife and son were with me. This room was really a surprise that I even got it. When I booked the room, the ocean view rooms were double the price of the mountain view rooms. I wanted the ocean view, but decided I needed to be corporately responsible, so I booked a mountain view room.

However; when I arrived, they upgraded me because I'm a platinum member with Marriott (No complaints from me). My wife, son, and I endured 2 weeks in this suite .

The reason this room is #1, and has never moved since I visited here is because of the sunsets. Every sunset every day emphasized a different color, and the colors changed as the sun went down. It was so spectacularly beautiful in person that it could nearly bring tears to my eyes. And of course, you sleep with the balcony window open like Cancun and like Turtle Bay ... This place was just spectacular. I work hard, but it ain't all work ...

I love it, but I'm starting a "travel" related pic thread. My hotel shots with lead off. In the mean for your amusement a random pic I took. And who doesn't?

Sigh, my wife gives me the speaking treatment.

Re: If you dare, post pictures you took

I just learned about this today.

I don't know what the English name of this is. I don't think I've ever seen one in the US. If I did, I didn't know how to eat it. My Language Instructor introduced me to it. She translated the name from Chinese as "Mountain Bamboo."

It's a little smaller than a baseball. The cloves are soft, and have about the texture of the inside of a grape. It's really sweet, although she says the season for them really ends about the end of July so if we had gotten them about a month earlier they would be better. The rhind is hard on the outside, then leathery to the fruit, but you can tear it apart with your hands to get to the fruit inside.

Very good stuff.

Re: If you dare, post pictures you took

I do painting as a hobby only..... I do oil paintings of wild life and landscapes. That is a concrete statue your looking at...it is my newest idea. I thought it would be intesesting to put a pack of wolves roaming through the pine trees in the front of my ranch. I also paint dogs and cats statues to match my friend pets as gifts.
