EW, you should have some "mummies" floating in the pool!

Sometimes, they way our minds work alike, it's scary.

Filled with assorted shapes of balloons, but I'll never do that again because cleaning the leaves out of the pool and trying to close it that late int he season is a biotch.

There were tiki torches around the pool to light it up at night so you could see the body in the pool

Around here the neighbors would call the cops on us for having that floating in the pool.

Re: The Official Halloween Thread

Oh god, I hate this time of year. I can never afford to do anything or dress up for Halloween. It sucks!

I'm one of those people that loves Halloween so much I will plan costumes months and months in advance and lurk on Hollywood special effects forums for tips and tricks.

I would love to work on latex prosthetic masks and body parts and custom tailor some outfits, makeup etc. That stuff that is painstaking and fun.... just working on the finer details for one night. I'd do it just to see other people be happy.

It's the anxiety of being around lots of people that gets to me.

Re: The Official Halloween Thread

My SIL and I are mega big into Halloween! It's not that big here in the UK, but we always have a big party. I already havemy costume- going as bride of chucky! Going to wear my old wedding dress, now about four sizes too big- gonna cut it up and sew it in, leather jacket over and wig- job done! Last year I went as one of the Clockwork orange guys. I'd say the main the difference here is not many people get into it, and when people dress up, it's always a scary costume.

Check out what I found!

I originally had BrokenVows in mind when I found this recipe and was about to shoot off a PM, but I figured everyone needs to see it. It's pretty cool. It's a bunch of shaped cookies with the center cut out, glued together with icing and filled with whatever you want.

Here's the recipe. not martha — Trick-Or-Treat Cookies for Halloween

Let me know how it turns out if any of you decide to give it a shot. I'd love to see an adult version with some sort of alcohol cooked into either the dough or the filling. Maybe dipped in white or dark chocolate with some sort of melted chocolate or caramel center.

Re: The Official Halloween Thread

Those cookies look really cute Nsweet. I wonder why the M & M's don't melt, ah you bake them first and then put them inside baked cookies glued by frosting! Great idea.

I admit I am more of a "PotteryBarn kids Halloweenist" with the cute ghosts and pumpkins as opposed to the gory stuff. When I was blessed to be a SAHM I went all out, we all had costumes, fog machines and goodies and glow sticks for trick or treaters. This year my costume will be The Mom who Walks With kids for Trick or Treating.

I'm like you, I get professional theater make up and one year I dressed up as Sally so I went to diffrente fabric stores to make the dress as close to the characters as possible. I put a lot of thought and detail to my costumes.
I even practic the make up the night before

Re: The Official Halloween Thread

You make it sound like staying at home or chauffeuring the kids for trick-or-treating isn't any fun. Are you kidding? I would love to do that. If there was a SAHM mom willing to let me help her pass out candy and bake cookies, or taker her kids out to all the good neighborhoods for buckets of candy I would.

That's like a right of passage trick or treating with youngsters, or helping someone else with the 180... depending on how you look at it. It is a holiday and a rough time of year for the newly divorced. All the better reason to stuff yourself with chocolate, b!tch about your ex with a friend, and watch Rocky Horror in between passing out candy.

Re: The Official Halloween Thread

You are right, my kids are just missing the privileged life we once had and their old home where they spent their "whole" life and I am sad that I cannot go all out on a costume, I would be an angel with huge wings this year or Alice in Armor from the Johnny Depp version.

I will make an effort to appreciate my kids when we trick or treat this year, I really love them and am grateful to them. Maybe someday, God willing, I can go back to the lady in the decked out house with the best goodies on the block. I have an apartment so no trick or treaters this year but it will save us some money so I will look at it this way.

Halloween is big here, it is a holiday that everyone celebrates no matter what religion they are (well except for the minority that boycotts it due to religion).

Re: The Official Halloween Thread

I love to put on a scary mask, wait for the little trick-or-treaters, and scare them into dropping their candy bags and running.

I then grab the candy and wait for the next group.

Hey, you don't see the cops/aldermen/politicians in Chicago going door-to-door for THEIR goodies, so why should I?
