Default weight loss programs

Anyone here on any type of weight loss program? Or maybe you follow your own that you go by, just by eating better and exercising more? If so, share what you do. My problem right now is, finding the motivation and determination to try something.

Hi Agent im right there with you! this is one of my goals, to start working out and eating better. it is such a hard thing to do!

i havent worked out in over two years and i eat a lot of candy. ive gained about 10 lbs. my weight loss plan is to focus on working out only and not on what i eat. Trying to focus on both at the same time is overwhelming for me. i also think that if i work out more i will naturally stop eating poorly. its something that has worked for me in the past.

as far as working out i try to keep it simple, especially since im so out of shape. its really tempting when i first workout to try and bust my a@@ so i can lose a lot of weight quickly, but ive found that if i pay attention to how i feel while im working out and pace myself that i will keep working out. When i get back from vacation i will start with only 15 mins on the elliptical and 10 pushups afterwards. i always stretch for awhile. i'll continue with 15 mins/10 pushups every day until i start feeling that slight energy boost and i can go for 30 mins 3 x's a week and 15 mins 4 x's a week. i will then build up to 30 mins every day. after that is comfortable i will start doing intervals. then possibly intervals on elliptical and running 2 x's a week. i'll do pushups every day.

the key for me is to take it slow and listen to my body. its really tempting to try and kick off as much weight in the shortest amount of time but that is not a long term solution. with the routine i've outlined above im hoping to lose about 20 lbs in a year.

I'm doing weight watchers. I've done it before so it works (and would of kept working if I'd actually stayed with it ) - I need to loose about 25 pounds that I've put on over the last 4 years or so. Its fairly simple to follow - you get so many points per day + another allotment of points per week that can be used at any time and their system helps you figure out points for foods, recipes, etc. Fruits and Veggies don't cost any points as long as you don't gorge yourself on them. I've eaten at PF Changs and Macaroni Grill this week and still been within points.

Right now I am focusing on tracking my food with sparkpeople.com they are free...they have lots of tools. I did do weight watchers but I wasn't as focused as I needed to be and I didn't want to waste my money by going and not following the plan. They have an awesome online tracking system, but it cost's ...well depends on where you live I imagine. Once I'm in the habit of tracking everything, then I want to get more exercise into my life and include my kids in that.

Anyways that's my goal...I am working towards it.

I had started a blog tracking my progress but then I stopped using it. If you want to check it out though here's the address: My Journey My Life

Take care a just keep your eyes on your goal...and take small steps to get there...

In October, I joined a morning fitness bootcamp. I go 5 days a week and work really really hard. It's early (5:30am) but I drag my azz out of bed each day and get out there. When I'm done, I've burned a ton of calories (today was 479), and I'm left with the day free and a lot of energy. The motivation from the other women is great, and the trainer is amazing. I'm sure there's a camp near you somewhere.

I also am tracking everything I eat on myfitnesspal.com - it's free, the community there is supportive, and it helps you figure out what you're eating so you can make better choices. I'm down 9 lbs, and a lot of inches - almost a full size down!

It is really about calories in vs calories out (burned). Making good eating choices is key - sugar is the enemy - I have reduced it a lot but not cut it out completely.

Set small but realistic goals for yourself, with a reward at each mini-milestone. It's mentally easier to work on losing 5 lbs X number of times rather than a larger amount. Good luck!

Once upon a time I went from size 16 to size 6 using Weight Watchers. I also hired a personal trainer briefly to teach me how to work out with weights. It was a struggle since the first few weeks I was very hungry. The support of the group and the knowledge that I needed to report to someone kept me honest.

Recently I was successful at simply modifying my portions and wokring out a lot without any other work.

I have used fatsecret.com to track calories in the past as well since it syncs with my Droid. The Droid app has a barcode reader that you can use to aim at product pacakges...

I don't believe in any weight loss programs, diets etc. Yo-yo effect. Seen it with my husband (he is about 7-10kgs overweight)

I tell anyone who asks: plain daily exercise, even fast walking/marching is enough. No junk food. Small portions. Small bites. Chewing for a long time (your brain will make your stomach believe you are full even though you haven't finished eating yet). This simple approach assures you will actually develop a life long habit (as opposed to making special food every day, which after some time you lose incentive to do)

My husband doesn't listen to me either :/
