Though not in the movie, when we watched "A Christmas Carol" (the old 1938 Reginald Owen version), at the end at Cratchitt's house, Scrooge goes into the other room to give the kids' gifts, leaving the bewildered elder Cratchitts in the kitchen. Then you hear the kids in the other room shrieking (with delight).

Someone in the family (think it was my mother) said "Scrooge is in there beating them with a broom!"

Unfortunately, I was drinking a Coke at the time, and it went out my nose!
