Cool Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

If it were left up to me, I'd put everybody's a$$ to work refereeing football games!

That's the way to get your exercise!

And what you didn't lose sweating off, you'd lose because of some uneducated or unenlightened coach chewing your a$$ out!

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

I have a very hard time getting motivated to go back to the gym. I think a big part of it is that my job has me completely burnt out and overworked. I'm waiting to hear back about an interview I had on Friday--I think they will make an offer (fingers crossed), and I think that will give me the boost I need (not to mention it is directly across the street from LA Fitness, and I have a membership).

I hope you get the job!

I workout at home about six days per week.

3 days I do a warmup, 7 minute workout, and a cool down. Love it. It only takes about 20 minutes. All three videos are posted on my website here: 7 Minute Workout Video | The Feminine Review: Homemaking, Family and the World

The other three days I do a mixture of stretching, isometric exercises, callisthenics, and hand weights. This takes about 45 minutes.

I keep my weight in check by eating lots of protein and vegetables. I don't eat dairy, eat very little grain, and eat no wheat or gluten. I never count calories. I go eat until I'm satisfied, not full.

I stay motivated by standing in the front of the mirror naked. It either makes me shocked that I need to get to it or it makes me feel like what I'm doing is working, so I better keep it up.

Thank you!

If I lived alone, and had the space, I would totally work out at home. But I have two roommates, very thin walls, and no space where I could workout without disturbing them. I have another branch of my gym that is <5 mins from my house by car, and that is awesome. (And if I can manage to workout in the morning, I can shower there, which eliminates the complication of the morning bathroom schedule at home!)

I previously followed Body for Life for Women, and that time I lost about 25#, which was awesome. I'm going to give that a go again.

I long ago realized that I do not have that type of discipline. To stay in decent shape, I need to be on sports teams that happen to be full of members who are 20 years younger than me. I also bike to work, which helps a lot. Biking to work is better than biking on weekends because I have to make good time if I am riding to work.

A lot of people would have trouble working out at home, but for me it's the only thing that makes sense.

I also absolutely hate to shower in a gym for various reasons. Although I may start at a gym next year anyway. A friend of mine works out at the gym. She lifts heavy weights. I'd like to get a personal trainer and start lifting heavy.

I've heard that most people can't stay motivated if they work out at home as opposed to at a gym. For me it's just the opposite. I couldn't stick with a gym in the past, but working out at home is so much more convenient for me that I have no real excuse to miss it. I am a small woman and don't take up much room. I actually workout on a beach towel in our bedroom. haha My husband couldn't do it, as he'd be bumping into things, but it's just the right amount of space for little old me.

My grandmother did exercises in her bed into her 90's. Not the same kind of exercises I do, as that would not work, but for an old woman she did what worked for her. And she was proud of herself for doing her exercises.

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

I've always liked Greek yogurt, but didn't realize until recently how much protein it packs! 22 grams per serving in this one brand I buy, and if you buy the flavorless one, then you can add your own fruit, and can avoid the added sugars. Just passing this along.
