Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

Rest day, for me.

But, I've set up the back bedroom as a weight room, with a bench and some bar and dumb bells. Less weights than I can get at the gym, but great for M'Lady to use while she's housebound.

She wants to workout, but is limited while her knee replacement heals. So I took her through some easy upper body exercises. Pec flys, situps, shoulder and chest presses.

She did try her stationary bike last night, but we realised that's a nono until she can bend her knee a lot more.

The good news is that, even though she's laid up, she's been eating much better, lost 2.5lbs last week, and has lost 14lbs in the last 6 months.

I'm still stuck firm at +/-200lbs, no matter what I do, but as I'm fitting in 32" jeans (with no overhang! ) I'm not too bothered!

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

When I was young (yes I did go jogging with my pet dinosaur) I used to run 2 miles in 15 minutes, which is an average of 8 mph. The treadmill is telling me that I now run around 6 mph (but distance is improving). The difference has been bothering me until this morning I realized that in order for my young workouts to be equivalent to my current workouts, I would have had to have been carrying a 45 pound back pack. So maybe, I'm not doing so badly.
FYI 3k was just over 26 minutes this morning after weights.

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

Not a good session. Went at the wrong time (Bank holiday morning rush hour), so place was heaving. Plus, couldn't find my motivation. I had 1.5 beers last night at dinner, which didn't sit well. I don't drink a lot, but I'm wondering if I should NOT drink on the nights before workouts any more. Or at least, not beer, which has made me feel 'off' for a while now.

Elliptical warm up
Tried to HIIT, but got lightheaded, so a fast paced 10 mins instead.

Leg Press
1x20x130lbs (59kg)
1x20x205lbs (93kg)
1x20x250lbs (113kg)

Lat Pull Downs
1x12x115lbs (52kg)
1x10x115lbs (52kg)
2x10x150lbs (68kg)

Machine Shoulder press
3x10x132lbs (60kg)

Oh man, can't stand being at the gym when it is crowded. I am more than happy going at 5am when it is just me and a few other people

Not a drinker here, so 1 or 2 beers later at night definitely doesn't sit well with me. Same goes with large dinners, just can't handle them like I used to. The joys of aging

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

Squats:

195lbs @ 5 @ 6
225lbs @ 1
255lbs @ 1
285lbs @ 1
315lbs @ 1
345lbs @ 1

Incline DB Press:

35lbs @ 15
45lbs @ 12
55lbs @ 10
60lbs @ 10

I ended up skipping a bunch of accessory work due to running out of time, so I will make up tomorrow. I decided to test out some heavier squats to see how my glute felt. Seems like anything above 315lbs or so causes discomfort, so I will stick with lighter squats. On a positive note, 345lbs was pretty easy, so glad to see I haven't lost a ton of strength (or maybe it was the two oreos I had at 5am lol)

Yeah. Rush hour sucks. I guess I thought it would be like Saturday morning, which isn't generally too bad at my gym. But nooo. Weight room was stuffed full, so machines only. Which were also busy. Should have gone earlier.

More than happy to cut down/out the beers and big dinners. Need to try and reduce my intake of both, to try and shift this last bit of belly fat.

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

Going to the gym later, probably going to do a CF workout and then a 3 mile run. That's what's on the menu, anyways.

Happy Saturday

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

Deadlifts:

245lbs @ 3 @ 2
265lbs @ 3 @ 2
285lbs @ 10 @ 2

------------ This was supposed to be the extent of my deadlift workout. I have been keeping the weights light due to a nagging butt cheek strain. One of my friends was at the gym deadlifting as well, started talking trash to me so .... Alpha/chest pounding Ellis came out of hiding and we had a deadlift competition lol

315lbs @ 1
365lbs @ 1
405lbs @ 1
455lbs @ 1
495lbs @ 1

Let's just say I won that one Happy to report 8 hours later I can still walk lol.

Niiice ^^^

I went for a 3 mile run today, nothing too hard. I should have done my CF workout I had planned, but ended up hanging out with my fiance for part of the afternoon. Now, off to make mushroom and asparagus whole wheat pizza yum!

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

Yesterdays workout:

Completed a one hour WOD (suggested time) in 35 minutes followed by one hour of grappling and getting crushed by a 250 purple belt. Nothing like trying to move someone who has 90 lbs on you and knows how to move/use his weight.

Weighed in at 161 this morning. That is the lightest I have been since 1997.
