Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

Looks like we're still all kicking ass and taking names.

5 morning classes this week. Would've gone this morn but they're all cancelled due to this thing called easter. Only a 430 pm one. Far too late for me. So this morn im popping in earbuds, listening to some hard core rap, and power walking around the neighborhood. 😋

Tomorrow is my day off😊

Same here, did a power walk around the neighborhood this morning (rock, no gangsta rap this time lol). Hit 85 degrees here so had to get some exercise outside since it is supposed to be back near 50 degrees by the end of the week. Debating whether or not I do another walk since all I have eaten today is pancakes and a TREMENDOUS amount of cookies

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

Spent the last couple of days helping M'Lady to use the home gym. Light stuff, all upper body, as she recovers from a knee replacement. So, sit ups, pec flys, shoulder, chest presses, standing press ups. Sit ups, press ups, curls, light deadlifts for me.

Took myself to the gym this morning.

4/17/17

Squats
1x10x132lbs (60kg)
2x5x200lbs (90kg)
1x5x220lbs (100kg)
1x5x265lbs (120kg)
1x3x286lbs (130kg)

Walking Lunges (dumbell)
6x25'x35lb (16kg)

Declined situps
60

Deadlift
1x10x200lbs (90kg)
1x5x220lbs (100kg)
1x5x286lbs (130kg)

Leg Press
1x10x235lbs (107kg)
1x10x265lbs (120kg)

And stayed away from beer! JD honey with a lot of soda water seemed to be OK though. Had a 1/2 glass of wine yesterday at Mums Easter lunch, which didn't sit well. So went and chopped wood for an hour in her log shed to burn it off!

My W has been doing a lot of some online service (Sweatflix) at home. Seems to really enjoy and getting some nice results.

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

So here is a quick question for those here. Do you feel that the body image you have of yourself (in your mind) is accurate? I guess what I mean by that, you may have a warped sense of what you look like (vs how you actually look).

So for myself, I was a very skinny / lanky kid. There is still a part of me that sees myself as that (for example when I look in the mirror). However, I will look at a video or photo of myself now and sometimes it catches me off guard that I am definitely not skinny/lanky anymore lol. Interesting how the mind can play tricks on you, and I know some people do deal with more serious issues when it comes to their perceived body image.

Yes. I always saw myself as small and skinny, even when I wasn't (in both good and bad ways).

Interestingly enough, it actually took seeing some pictures of myself about 5 or so years ago to realize that I had let myself go a bit more then I realized (and what really lit a fire under my ass to change). I think I was so determined to get away from being skinny/lanky I went too far on the other end

How I see myself in a mirror is definitely different than how I see myself in a picture.

People tell me i'm in good shape. 'Buff' if you like. But I don't 'see' it. I still see the stubborn midriff spare tyre. That the scale never seems to move from +/- 200lbs. That even after 2 years of regular gymwork, I don't seem to change.

While i do 'know' I'm 25lbs lighter than I used to be, and 4' smaller in belt size, I still see that older size, in the mirror.

I've never had a very impression about myself physically or mentally. I have always felt the better part of a failure, always chasing ghost. Now that I'm getting older, I would rather not take or look at photos of myself.

I am not judging when I say this because I struggle with much of the same things.

It sure seems to me to be a screwed-up way to view oneself.

Now if I could just figure out how to stop...

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

What I see in the mirror changes based on my mood. When I'm with my kids and my grandbaby, I look in the mirror and see a young, beautiful woman. But when I'm with someone who mistreats me, I see an old, sagging woman. It's really strange. It's like I'm seeing two completely different people.
