Ellis, spending $5-10 to have a shirt taken in makes all the difference in how it looks.

I also get the 'shirt fat' issue, even with the 'slimline' (ie tapered) work/dress shirts i've taken to buying. Tight around the chest, but voluminous around the midriff. But they do fit a lot better than the regular (non slimline) 16.5" necked shirts, which hang like a tent. I put on an older 'casual' shirt from the closet the other day, and could have had friends over to stay inside the leftover room. I realised I need to get several of these older shirts tailored! M'Lady has offered to take in my shirts. Something she can do while she's off work.

Jeans are a PITA for me. I have to buy 'relaxed' fit, as regular one's fit great around the waist, but come up really tight around my thighs, which are solid. Fortunately this means I'll never be a hipster, as skinny jeans are never ever going to fit!
I actually just got measured for a custom dress shirt for a wedding I am in, so we will see how well it fits. My one arm is close to an inch longer then the next, and similar to you barrel chested, bigger traps, short waisted etc... (I think around a 33-34in waist, 17.5 neck). I forget what the lady was telling me, but there is a standard amount of room in the butt area on pants, and I need 4-5in more then the standard which is why most pants don't fit. I actually have a much easier job with jeans buying cheaper brands that are loose fit. There are a few clothing lines that specialize in more athletic fit clothes, but the prices they charge aren't worth it for me. No hipster/skinny jeans for me either, and I am ok with it

Off to get my 5am workout in now, think I have some deadlifts and squats ahead of me

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

Back at work today (3 day week!), so picking up my routine of going to my IT room and knocking out a quick 20 situps + 20 pressups every couple of hours or so.

I used to do this before, a while back, and it's surprising how difficult it became once I stopped doing it.

Or maybe I just got even older!

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

In Chattanooga for the week. I am here 4-6 times per year on business, and always train at the same BJJ gym here.

After two days of solid rolling, I was sore everywhere. I tried an ice bath for the first time last night. I think my balls are still somewhere north of my liver...

Still getting good work in, and will go again tonight before leaving for home tomorrow.

It's arm day for me. And of course, some cardio!

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

On the topic of clothes, I shower at work after the gym. My gym doesn't have a shower but at work our building has a small gym and full locker room, so it is easier to get on the road right after the gym instead of showering at home. Anyway, I packed my clothes last night and picked a long sleeve UnderArmour polo shirt. Don't know why, but for some reason, I decided to grab a different long sleeved shirt as well (I never do this). Sure enough, this morning after I showered I put on the UA shirt and it hugged me like spandex on a cyclist Fortunately I had the second shirt which fit me much better, so made the switch lol.

That is one of my other issues. At work, I don't want to look like a meathead or have muscles showing (I guess just something I am aware of since I work in a business environment). It makes things very challenging if I wear a short sleeve polo shirt, or I guess in the case of the UA long sleeve shirt I have. I guess you could classify this as #firstworldmeatheadproblems !

I wouldn't bother to get older shirts altered. You've already gotten your use out of them. Just buy new shirts and have your wife alter them. Some of the best purchases I've ever made are my sewing machine and serger.

Last night was a tough workout, among all the other lifts the toughest was

Back squats:

6 @ 65%
4 @ 75%
2 @ 85%
1 @ 95%
1 @ max

Max reps at 85% (I got 6)
Same rep number + @ 75%

Lol, I would put that money to better use by just running it through a shredder instead of asking my W to alter

I wish I knew how to sew. I have to buy petite sizes and if there is something that is non petite, I always have to have my pants and shirts hemmed. Guess I should have taken sewing in high school instead of shorthand. LOL.

Hemming is super easy. You could probably find a youtube video on it.

Re: Exercise Motivation Thread

Four days of hotel food was all it took to add four pounds. How the hell does that happen?

Granted, I know there are other variables such as hydration level and such. Even so, it is mystifying...
