Hey, just wondering what y'all hold to be sacred and divine, if anything. It seems a lot of people here are Christian - I wonder how many there are in numbers?

I read Buddhism teaching too, a religion full of wisdom.
I read books written by psychiatrists, another group of wise people who give good advice about life.
Wisdom is what I am searching, as long as it is wisdom, I absorb.
I am going to attend Johavah's witness' meetings again, finding balance in life is what I have to achieve.
My views are more spiritual and mystical, kind of like what you're saying in seeking wisdom.
There's a lot in common between an eastern, more mystical approach to Christianity and the "detachment" spirituality of Buddhism.
There's more of an emphasis on personal humility, and less focus on how "others" are mistaken.
The eastern Orthodox faith is more open than some (not all) other forms of Christianity, if you're open enough to be humble and see it.
Actually Christian mysticism not just "eastern."
it's really pre-Roman, and pre-Protestant reformation...the ancient Celts were very mystical and spiritual, and a lot more egalitarian and less patriarchal.

The more I read, the more peaceful I become; the more I talk to people, the better I know how to control myself! this is what I feel now.
When I first came to this forum, I thought I was already in a good spot, but I still got worked up and got furious at some people who tried to attack me personally. Now I still feel the unpleasant feeling if people try to argue with me, but I feel much more peaceful now, I shrug my shoulders and just say: HUMAN!
I don't let small things bother me anymore, if something unpleasant happens, I just tell myself, it is only a small thing, it is not worthwhile for me to waste my time thinking about this, I go ahead and do something else. I am glad that I have trained myself like this!
Ever heard of rewiring your brain? It says that happy feeling doesn't come naturally, but we can train our brain so we can enjoy a more peaceful mind! It is like achieving a skill, need constant practicing and practicing!
I think many of the teachings of religion are important but I would never believe in any religion as they seem so very, very human in foundation and structure. On whether or not God, Gods, Jesus, Goddesses, etc. exist...well, I can't say as I have no idea. I live a life that respects and admires all living things and tries to understand that which is not living.

Trenton,
I grew up in China, we are atheists.
I am not interested in knowing if GOD exists or not, who gave birth to Jesus, if a man can become a Buddha or not. I am not interested in these at all.
But I am interested in their wisdom, they teach us how to have a more fulfilling life. It took me quite a few years to get into it. Now I just love it, that's why I keep on buying books related to human and life.
