Oh goodness. Weis and Hickman. I remember reading the many many DragonLance books back in the 90s. My so is totally into Skyrim now which reminds me of them. I should dig my old books out for him.

The 5th edition of the PMI PMBOK. Scintillating...

For fun, though, I'm also reading a Madeline Hunter novel.

The DragonLance books, another excellent series by Weis and Hickman.

I do not play computer games much but the The Elder Scrolls series (Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim) I have played. Very addictive, worse than crack cocaine.

Damn, I really am a geek!

Re: What are you READING? 📚

Hostage To The Devil, by Malachi Martin; non-fiction book about five exorcisms.

The Linux Command Line, William E. Shotts, Jr.; learning how to use Linux command prompt 'cause it's hard to use a Linux operating system without knowing the commands.

Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML, by Elizabeth & Eric Freeman; trying to learn some web design/development. (hey, might make it big and create the next instagram, ya never know)

Yeah, my reading at the moment comprises of totally non-fiction books, not because I don't like fiction. As a matter of fact, I wrote some short stories for a newspaper in my area. I just thought I'd give the fiction a break for a while, since that is mostly all I read, and try something different.

Off-topic, my favourite book at the moment (it changes) is The Great Gatsby. Fitzgerald is the man.

Even if I don't get likes for it, I'm still going to say it.

Re: What are you READING? 📚

Oh yeah, almost forgot. I've been reading through The Shadow Novels by Walter B. Gibson (my avatar is a modern rendition of The Shadow). I am taking a break from them now. I started reading when I heard he used to write a novel per month for more than twenty years. Powerful mind. Usually, it takes writers a year plus.

Even if I don't get likes for it, I'm still going to say it.

I've read a lot of Stephen King's books. One of my favorite authors. I just finished Bazaar of Bad Dreams which is a very large book of short stories. It was nice to read before bed because usually 1 whole story was the perfect length before wanting to crash.
Sister is a fantastic book. Good twist at the end. I won't spoil it for you. But now I'm thinking I may need to re-read it--I read it about 5 yrs ago.

I used to read a lot of Stephen King books when I was younger--I was really into fantasy and horror when I was in middle/high school. (I was a really advanced reader, and I loved books. I started reading Stephen King when I was 11.) I don't read him anymore, my preferences just moved in a different direction. I think he was very under-rated by the literary establishment for a long time. I had the good luck to hear him talk at the National Book Festival this past fall, and he was wonderful! I believe there is a video of his session available online, on the Library of Congress website--I definitely recommend it. I loved The Stand, Four Seasons, and Rose Madder. Those are books I would definitely revisit and read again.

Re: What are you READING? 📚

Finished the Jenny Colgans. Cute stories if a bit silly and formulaic. On the 3rd book of the Goldstone series. Trying to catch up on some of Paulo Coelho's later novels. Then I downloaded a 4 book
Irish murder mystery series which will be next up.

Re: What are you READING? 📚

Into the Wild by Krakauer. It's a nonfiction about a young man who dropped everything and wondered for a couple of years before tragically dying in the Wilds of Alaska.

I just finished a second listen through Heretics by GK Chesterton. I'm listening to Orthodoxy by Chesterton when I drive right now.

I have a preference for nonfiction right now but I do enjoy picking up a fantasy novel from time to time. I haven't picked one up in a while though. The last I read was the First Law series by Abercrombie probably 2 years ago

Do you hear the people sing / Lost in the valley of the night?
It is the music of a people / Who are climbing to the light.
For the wretched of the earth / There is a flame that never dies.
Even the darkest night will end / And the sun will rise...

@FeministInPink

Hulu has announced that they are releasing a remake of The Handmaids Tale. Trailer looks really interesting.

Re: What are you READING? 📚

I <3 books (still old fashioned in my love of the tangible, bound paper kind) and have a serious problem; moving with them is always a back-breaking challenge. I've tried to curtail the book hoarding after the last move, but even if I don't buy them, I have a constant rotation of library books littered about. Oh well. I guess the first step in recovering from any addiction is admitting you have a problem.

Anyway! I'm currently reading:

- The Devil in Silver by Victor Lavalle (My husband is an even bigger book nerd than me and loves Victor Lavalle; he's been after me forever to read this book. He was right. It's really very good.)

- Hold the Dark by William Giraldi (Kids getting spirited away by wolves in the frozen hinterlands of Alaska. Good times.)

- Crimson Death by Laurell K. Hamilton (Latest Anita Blake book - that's right! I admit it! - one of my many literary guilty pleasures)

- The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson (I <3 her writing style. We Have Always Lived in the Castle is one of my faves ever.)

My two favorite books of all time:

- Geek Love by Katherine Dunn

- A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole

Yes, moving is the hardest part. Before my last move, I donated 15 boxes of books, at 50# per box. That's a lot of books! I moved just as many to my new place. I regret having to donate all those books, but I was downsizing and simply didn't have the space in my new place. And I have already accrued a number of new books since I moved into my new place 1.5 yrs ago.

I have an estimated 30 or 40 boxes of books at my parents' house, which I hope to reclaim once I have a permanent place (condo, townhome), whenever that may be.

Read the book years ago. I loved the original 1963 movie version of it and that it is in black and white.
