I'm back...

Hey everyone! I'm Kayleigh and I joined this forum just before I got married in December 2015, and was active for a while then disappeared.

I guess I was a more "unusual" member because my husband and I were 17 when I joined. Some people here thought it was a bad idea, and a lot of people in "real life" though it was too, and still do.

We're both 18 now and still married, and are having a baby in June! The latter was not expected or planned as such, but we didn't exactly prevent it either and regardless of what anybody else things, we're happy and looking forward to the future.

Unfortunately my mother died in August last year, just after I found out I was pregnant (never got to tell her), and I still don't think I am "over" it, but I'm coping the best I can.

We're still living in Scotland but my grandmother owned a house in Canada which she left to me for when I turned 18, so we now have the option of moving over there, which we are considering, but time is of the essence as we'd need to decide soon if we do it before or after the baby is born. I fear if we have our baby here then we'll get tied down and will never move to a potentially better life over there, but don't particularly want to move to another country whilst heavily pregnant and then feel trapped and unable to return "home" afterwards either.

It's catch 22, but we'll see what happens!

Anyway, I'm glad to be back!! I don't expect anybody to remember me, but I'll be active on here a lot more from now on.

Yeah, we're seriously considering it! It's a beautiful country, and I love the fact that they get proper hot summers and proper cold winters!! The UK has no definition to the seasons, it is just tepid all year round almost!!

Having a baby when you're young is tough, but can be a blessing too. You still have an enormous amount of energy at that age, which helps considerably.

Also, when you're 40 and suddenly have your life back again you'll realize how much you'll be able to enjoy yourself more at that age with both the time and financial resources you'll have developed.

Darling it's better down where it's wetter, take it from me! --- Sebastian

Re: I'm back...

Congrats on the baby. Happy that things are going well for you guys and so sorry to hear your mum passed.

If you are considering moving, do it before the baby is born so you guys can get situated before the baby comes.
Take care and it's nice hearing from you again.

Re: I'm back...

Where are you thinking of moving to in Canada?

The thing I love most about Canada (near Edmonton) is the length of days in the summertime. It is great that it is light out past 9:00 pm all summer long. Can work a full day and still play a full round of golf at night after work. Summers are great! And we also love to go to the mountains and ski in the winter.

Life is good, then you die!

I don't feel very energetic at the moment, but I know what you mean!

You are absolutely right about having my life back at a (relatively) young age. We both want children but at the same time we also want to be able to enjoy our lives after they have grown up, before we are too old.

I couldn't help but to notice how you left out the 6 hour days during the winter and the minus 40 temperatures. HHMMMMM.

Our lives are a novel and we, the authors. if you don't like the story line, only you have the power to change it.

The house is in North Bay. Not exactly the most desirable or busy cities, but the house is in a good area and we already know a few people who live nearby.

More like 9 hour days and very few days that are minus 40.

I actually like the extreme cold better than extreme hot. People in Phoenix don't spend much time outside when it is 105 degrees out. We don't spend much time outside when it is minus 30. We might have a week or so of minus 30. Not sure I have ever seen it at minus 40 here.
