Re: Ever Used the Opposite Sex Restroom Out of Necessity?

While in Sacramento for work, my colleagues and I once went into a pub in Folsom, California after work.

I had to go to the bathroom. My colleague who had been there before pointed the way. I entered through the door marked "Men." There was a second door to the actual toilets--the walls of the intervening foyer were plastered with a collage of nude men, full frontal and everything.

Had we unknowingly entered a gay bar?

I quickly hopped back out to the snickers of my colleagues and all the regular patrons. Not easily flustered, I looked at the door again. The word "Men" was bright and bold, but contained within the faint outline of a hand with the index finger extended... pointing at the other door.

Ahhh, I get it. Very clever.

I entered the door marked "women" in a barely distinguishable hand pointing at the other door. As expected the foyer was plastered with a collage of explicit female nudes. On the other side of the second door was ... urinals! Hallelujah!

That was circa 1990. I don't know if the same setup still exists. I'm not even sure any business would be willing to accept the potential legal liability that might come with such a thing.

I think gender specific washrooms are what's wrong with the world today. Do you have them in your house???? Do you feel that you SHOULD have them in your house?? So WHY do we feel the need to have them out in public??? Are we REALLY that afraid that someone's going to want to take a peek at our butt crack or cellulite or belly fat? I mean seriously. If you REALLY feel the need to look at me naked, by all means. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Oh, and to answer your question, HELL yes. I never hesitate at a gas station or somewhere like that. I've even used the mens at a football stadium. I've only ever been questioned once, and I just pretended I didn't know what I'd done.

Yes, I did. I went into the men's room because someone put a huge sign over the freaking door and I could not see the sign. I went in and thought it looked weird but I had to pee really bad. Went I came out and was washing my.hands, I looked over and a guy was peeing. I rushed out so quickly, my gf saw where i went and was dying of laughter. I said to her, there is guy in there and she said yea, it's the men's room. Some friend.

I imagine the prosecutor looked at it and thought it was really stupid and a waste of time, and came up with the fastest easiest excuse to just ignore it.
In Houston, the city prosecutor probably knew, all too well, that there was no way in hell that he, or any of his subordinate prosecutors, could even come close in convincing 12 people in any one jury pool, to convict the drunken young lady of any crime, although the statute was clearly on the books!

I suspect that had the genders been reversed, a prosecutor would be hard pressed to get 12 people, even if they were all women to convict a guy in the same situation. Honestly, this is something that I think most mature adults aren't too fussed about, and couldn't care much less about... excerpt for, as in most cases a small but loud minority

Re: Ever Used the Opposite Sex Restroom Out of Necessity?

Be very careful if you ever visit Ireland.A lot of places use Irish Gaelic for place names and also for restrooms.
In Irish Mna means woman.
Fir means man.
You see Mna on a restroom door when you are in a hurry it's easy to get temporary dyslexia.
Alternatively if you see a large M on one door and an F on the other it's easy to be fooled.

Re: Ever Used the Opposite Sex Restroom Out of Necessity?

I've used men's restrooms when it was a one-person room.

Now there was the time in Germany when I misunderstood the words on the doors and used the men's room. There were no men in the room when I entered. But when I left there were a few at urinals. I just walked out quietly. they just watched me walk through. ... .probably thinking "stupid tourist".

Re: Ever Used the Opposite Sex Restroom Out of Necessity?

Many years ago back when I was waiting tables in college, if I had to go #2 at work (before the restaurant opened, never during open hours), I would often use the women's restroom, under the mistaken belief that since women were more concerned with everything being neat and tidy and pretty in real life that women's public restrooms would reflect that. I later found out that women's public restrooms get much nastier than men's.

I guess I lucked out and must have always been the first one in there, because I never experienced any of that nastiness.

Oh, I have. I had a couple of dishwashing jobs in school that including swabbing out the restrooms. Men may miss the urinal on occasion, but some women seemed to go out of their way to make the place as disgusting as possible.

I was on vacation with my young sons once out in Western Nebraska while traveling up to North Dakota!

We pulled into this gas station along the interstate and I instructed my older son to pump the gas as old Dad had a piss pain the magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale hit!

Two one-holer bathrooms inside, and found the men's obviously occupied and locked. I then turned across the hallway to the women's, lightly knocking, with no response. That was my key to enter.

Well enter I did! And it was so damned nasty it would have made a seasoned buzzard puke. It was all that I could do just to get out of there, then to try the locked men's bathroom once again, but to no avail; and to damned near piss my pants walking out into the outer boundaries of the back parking lot to relieve myself!

Had I been arrested for public indecency, pictures of that nasty-assed women's restroom would have had a jury of my peers roundly find me "not guilty!"
