I liked Close Encounters better than ET. ET was all right but kinda geared toward kids I thought.

I agree 100%

Close encounters was on TV about a week ago and ET just aired so it was interesting to compare the two

BTW you should have been around in 1977 when episode 4 came out. I swear it was like the second coming for nerdkind. Unbeleivable.
I agree. I tell myself that Episode III makes up for I, II, and VI, but I really can't even convince myself.

If I were around in 70s and not a small child in the 80s, I could have also been around for the original release of Metallica's earlier albums. That would've been beyond outstandingly awesome.

Sixth Sense was awesome, still is (came on TV the other day). Speaking of Sixth Sense, how good was Signs?

You know, I haven't read the comic, but everyone I know how has hated Keanu in that role. I thought he was ok, but again, you can't expect much character acting from the guy.

I always like end-of-the-world movies where they save the planet too. They're all so corny but my brain likes to go there it seems.

I know books aren't in your subject for this thread, but has anyone read the Emberverse series by S.M Stirling?? THE most frakking awesome book series in the history of the world. We are such geeks, we actually planned our entire summer holiday to Oregon last summer around places in those books.

One of the best characters Alan Moore created, he's a chain smoking blond englishman who is very ornery and wise cracking and basically fights evil magic while being a rather amoral person

Yep. Dude's made a joke of himself, and The Last Airbender did not help.

My wife and I went to Portland on our honeymoon. She wanted to drive to Forks, Washington to visit the places in 'Twilight'. I did not comply.

If we're throwing books out there, any nerd worth his or her salt needs to read House of Suns. Some of the best sci-fi I've read in years.

Twilight doesn't count as SF. Or even a real movie for that matter.

Why has my screen suddenly turned all retro on me?
