I am a beer snob through and through I only drink "craft beers"

Sam Adams is the biggest brewery I'll drink (love their Octoberfest, Winter Lager and Mighty Oak)

I also like
Flying Fish (most of their brews)
Leinenkugel Wheat
Dogfish Head -most brews
Long Trail Amber ale
Magic Hat #9
Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale
Victory (Golden Monkey will f you up)
and many other microbrews
Love just about anything by Sierra Nevada. ( Except Bigfoot, way too dry). Sometimes on a hot summer day that watered down light beer is just the thing.

I'm kind of a beer snob too. Whenever we travel, we seek out the local microbreweries/brew pubs and sample what they have. If all we can get are the mainstream ones like Labatt or Molson (we're in Canada) we don't drink beer.

A lot of American beer seems like water to me, especially the light ones!!

I really like red and dark beers. Rickards, Big Rock, Grizzly Paw, Alley Kat to name a few. They all make a nice assortment that I like to sample from depending on my mood. In summer when it's hot I like the lighter fruitier beers - Rickard White or Blonde, Big Rock Lime, Grizzly Paw's Beaver Tail (raspberry - maybe my all time favorite beer). Hubby likes their Rutting Elk beer Sleeman Honey brown is a good one too.

I used to work in the lab at a local brewery, testing beer. Worlds GREATEST job. The brewmaster there had a signature brew called Wolfsbrau that I adored. Sadly they closed down over a decade ago.

I just like beer I think I will go get some tonight - I've had a rough day.

What island is that on?? We're going to be on Kauai in April and plan on scoping out if there are any microbreweries there to visit

Thanks for all the ideas. Love Monty Python. Also makes me think of Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances - he called light beer "fairy piss"

It's on the Big Island. I had lunch there a couple of years ago and the beer AND the food were amazing. In fact one of my friends and I sat up for a very long time trying to figure out the logistics of floating back a few kegs on a delicious beer raft. They sell their lager and I think the porter stateside. But the others are way better and only in Hawaii.

In fact, I'm going to a conference on the Big Island in April and am planning on a couple of extra days there pretty much just to go back to Kona Brewery!

So someone once told me that the reason Mexican/central American beer can be so good is because of the number of Germans who escaped to central America after WW2. I have no idea how true this is or not but it seemed logical, anyone else heard this?

My wife loves her Corona Light but it's just about the lime for her.

Neither my husband or I like beer. He'll drink it in a pinch if he has no choice.

He drinks Jim Beam. If I have to drink and there's no girlie drinks around I'll stick with whiskey.

The taste of beer I imagine is one you get used to over time..

Bluemoon.

All their flavors.

Too bad I can't drink it anymore (gluten intolerant).

Redbridge isn't too bad...it's my gluten free beer.

Beer snobs / wine snobs. Pffftt. I have a degree in viticulture and Enology (growing grapes and making wine). I hate when people try to make themselves look more sophisticated by being a snob about what they drink. It should be fun. People who put down what other people are drinking are trying to just make themselves feel superior.

A true aficionado appreciates ALL wines or beers. They might not like the taste of them all but at least they can appreciate it for what it is and why it was made and simply judge them based on do they have any flaws for that particular style of wine or beer.

I personally like Guinness. When I order one it's common for someone to look at my glass and ask me what the hell that is. I tell them it's a stout and hold it up and ask them if they want to try a drink with a big grin on my face. They usually look at it with the disgusted look on their face because it looks as dark and thick as used motor oil. It's an acquired taste I guess.

I occasionally try to educate people I am with about wine and create some interest in it. It's usually after someone has fingered my publicly for knowing about wine and then I have no choice HAHA. I try to do it in a fun and entertaining way so people don't feel inferior or patronized.

If that guy wasn't such a snob he could have maybe started up a conversation with you and worked it into ordering a few beers for your table to sample and broken the ice. It might have led to you guys pulling your tales together or something and turned into a lot of fun. His loss.
