Default Who's your favorite "old school" cartoon character?

Of course, Bugs Bunny rules!

But I also love Marvin the Martian and Pepe le Pew!

Oh gosh, there are SO many.

Pepe le Pew was awesome!
Pizazz from the Misfits (Jem)
She-Ra
Vanity the Smurf
Gargamel (Smurfs)
Penelope Pitstop
Goofy (he was so cute/funny)
Speedy Gonzalez
And I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Tweety Bird & Wile E. Coyote (from the Roadrunner)

I always had an irrational hatred of The Roadrunnder and always desperately wanted for Coyote to catch him. LOL.

don't get me started

I'm somewhat of an expert on cartoon film shorts, in particular the WB ones.

I can look at most old Warner Brothers cartoons and within 2-5 seconds I can name the director, title, characters, voices (well most were Mel Blanc), musical director (most were Stalling) and plot and most of the jokes.

To me, I prefer the director over the characters. Altho some directors created some characters and were the only ones to use them at the time. (ie. Foghorn Leghorn is almost always a McKimson directed cartoon, Sylvester, Tweety was Freleng and Marvin Martian, Coyote, Pepe was Chuck Jones)

My favorite director was Chuck Jones

he made the best WB cartoons, including What's Opera Doc?, Duck Amuck, and One Froggy Evening

He also did the Grinch cartoon for TV

Droopy was created by the great Tex Avery

he was the bad boy of cartoon directors and always pushed the envelope in "standards", a truly brilliant director

AR-- Foghorn Leghorn rocks. Remember that one randy character that always danced with all the "chicks" in the "chick club" and would play vinyl records to dance to? Hilarious.

Huge Tex fan here. Made sure our kids got to know his work when they were young. Great stuff for kids and adults.

Bob Clampett was another director who pushed animation boundaries

one of my favorite Clampet moments is in the cartoon "An Itch in Time"

He actually made an "adult" joke in the cartoon that he fully expected that the studio censors would cut out. But the dummy censors had no clue as to the joke's risque intent and it ended up staying in the cartoon, much to Clampett's delight.

Looney Tunes - An Itch In Time (1943) - YouTube

the joke I'm talking about is around 4:47

I don't have any. Although "The Fox and the Hound" still brings me to tears from the cuteness of it all <3

if you like Foghorn then you would Robert McKimson directed cartoons, he's okay, but he makes all of the characters act like Foghorn, big sweeping arm motions, fairly obnoxious and boisterous voices. His Bugs BUnny cartoons are hard to watch for me because he acts like Foghorn
