Default Best '80s Song

LFFA started a best '80s flick thread, so I'm starting one for best '80s song. They don't necessarily have to be the best in your opinion, or even have to be good-just something that takes you back to the '80s.

I'll start with two from '84:

True-Spadau Ballet
Dance Hall Days-Wang Chung

AC/DC - "You Shook Me All Night Long" (1980)

Twisted Sister - "We're Not Gonna Take It" (1984)

Guns N' Roses - "Sweet Child O' Mine" (1987)

Foreigner - "I Want to Know What Love Is" (1984)

Bonnie Tyler - "Total Eclipse of the Heart" (1983)

My husband is a big old school music fan and introduced me to most of it I grew up with ACDC and Metallica (our favourite band). He loves music. The 80's tracks remind me of him as he knows all the words and loves all these songs I've never heard of lol (the ones above I love though).

depeche mode- any of them, even their newest release takes me back to the 80's.

Rick Astley- never gonna give you up! (rick roll ftw!)

that "I'll stop the world and melt with you"

"don't you want me" by whoever..

OH

and

Send me an angel - real life.

I could carry on with my happy little songlist in my head, really, but those were the first few that came to mind.

"The Joshua Tree" - U2.

I know, I know...that's an album, not a single song. But it's hard for me to sit down and listen to just one song from that album. It all ebbs and flows together so wonderfully, that it's like a big 51 minute song.

"More Than This"-Roxy Music.

I love this song because it was popular right when I was born.

My father held me in his arms for the first time and "More Than This" came on the radio. He heard it and said to himself: "There is truly nothing more than holding my newborn baby girl."

Other favorites include:

"Sexual Healing"-Marvin Gaye

"Shake You Down"-Gregory Abbott

"Rock With You"-Michael Jackson

"Dance With Somebody"-Whitney Houston

Anything by the Culture Club will take me back to '83.

Hey, anyone remember Buckwheat Zydeco "My Toot Toot"?

All great songs, But I gotta throw my two cents in for TESLA-LOVE SONG.

The guys from TESLA are the best, nicest guys you will ever meet as well. Ill be seeing them AGAIN in June with The Scorpions in Albq. NM

Why don't I just go by the years?

DISCLAIMER: these songs I list may not have been released in the years I give them, and I may not even like them, but they were all over the radio at that time, and therefore, etched in my memory for that year.

1980:

Escape/Pina Colada Song-Rupert Holmes
We Don't Talk-Cliff Richard
I Wanna Rock With You-Michael Jackson
Dreamin'-Blondie
Shook Me All Night Long-AC/DC
Take This Job And Shove It-Johnny Paycheck
The Gambler-Kenny Rogers
This Beat Goes On/Switchin' To Glide-The Kings
Fame-Irene Cara

aww..!! I love that song

Although I drive hubs crazy with it. When I listen to it, once just isn't enough...by the third play in a row, he's over it lol.

But yes, good song!
