Having nice guns is nice, but take it easy on the curls!
I am a total "guns" lover, nice defined biceps get me all a-twitter.
But there is also one thing I need to tell you lordmayhem:
YOUR AVATAR FREAKS ME OUT EVERY TIME YOU POST!!!!!! I always think there is a bug on my screen and I jump! You evil man you! (wish I had thought of it first)
i like lifting without straps and such too (even though my wife complains about the chalk), but shrugs, and deads, are way too heavy for my hands to hang on to for long, bent rows are also well past comfortable.
even if i can lift it raw my hands feel like they will blow apart, so the wrist straps are nice.
they are my favorite piece of "sissy gear" along with knee wraps which are a must for me on leg press and a definite nice to have for hack squats.
I pyramid the weight without straps to a point near failure and then I add straps. Chalk is essential.
So when repping out heavy deads, shrugs, rack pulls, and rows I use straps when it limits the movement. It allows for more sets/reps past grip failure with more weight.
I lift without a belt until I get to about 85% in the squat and deadlift. Otherwise I don't use one.

i'm taking the rest of this year off of heavy deadlift.
partly due to being wide waisted already, but the other part of it is pure lazyness as i don't like to have to take plates off my hack squat machine and i only keep 8 on my rack pins lol.
i set a new deadlift PR (floor pulls) early Jan when i was in a F the world mood and weighed in at 265
had 6 plates and a 10 (each side) when i finished my 5X5. I'm sure i could have went heavier, but had a horrid back pump going on and could barely stand up anymore. i was happy with the extra 20 over my previous effort anyway.
I have been making a real effort to deadlift often this year. I am pretty much following a Wendler 5/3/1 schedule. Deads are key to it. Always loved squatting. Need to bring up other weak areas though.
Some folks get so strong in the deadlift the benefits don't outweigh the risks. I am not there yet.
I have what amounts to two lifting areas. A power rack in the garage and an area in my home office. I do most pulling in this second area. Less shifting around stuff. I treated myself to some additional plates in my recent birthday to make things easier. I understand lazy. So anything that prevents me from having an excuse not to do something is worth avoiding.

There's nothing wrong with a little Mexican food every once in a while. It's just the amount of fats and carbs in most of the foods that contribute to the calories and can throw you off a good diet. If you can pass the chips and eat mostly the filling in burritos, enchaladas, tacos, and you name it you'lll fill up faster and save yourself from a few hundred empty calories. That and things like ceviche and any soups will do the trick. Just go ahead and dig in to your meal and then ditch half the rice and beans, tortilla, and chips to the other side of your plate or take home what you cant finish and add it to other dishes.
Personally, I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD! I live right across the street from a Mexican restaurant and have two more in my immediate area not including Taco Bell. I could eat that food every day for the rest of my life but it gets me chunky quick. So I have to know how to diet for my body type.

I have found ways to make mexican tasting/style food without really being severely unhealthy.
One of my favorite dishes to make at home (and also order at fajita grill) is just rice, lots of fresh cilantro, grilled chicken (in spicey hot goodness) black beans, and red onions, with a little cheese on it. I LOVE putting small amounts of chipotle sauce on it, and after putting it into spark people, its still under 500 calories.
Besides, anything with chilis, cayenne, or pepper of any sort, helps up your metbolism.
BUT. I just wanted to report that I have upped my weight on ALL my machines varying from 5-15lbs depending on the machine at the gym, did 15 minutes on the olyptical instead of ten (I do that before hitting the weights, my previous personal trainer advised me to) and then did my ten minutes on the treadmill after, and lately, I have noticed I can suddenly carry and pick up things that I was struggling with before! so I'm getting stronger and building muscle!! I also punched my brother a bunch of times, and he told me I'm hitting hard too
EXERCISE:
1. Warmup
2. Happy Hips
3. KETTLEBELL WORKOUT 15lbs. 2 SETS
a. Rack Squat Press 5 ea.
b. Halo 6 ea.
c. Double Arm Swing 15
d. Backward Lunge Rotate 8 ea.
e. Bent Over Row 12 ea.
f. Russian Twist 15
4. Stretch
